Age of Ultron The Avengers 2! The Official News and Speculation Thread - Part 47

People seems to be surprised that AOU is darker.

Isn't Phase 2 supposed to be darker?

Stark's house getting bombed. Thor's mom dies. SHIELD going down, Fury faked his death.

Darker is to be expected.

Agreed.

It's funny that a constant debate round movie/geek boards and a few critics seems to be that the MCU films are "too light and fun" and not dark enough. Then an allegedly darker film comes around and people complain that's it's "not fun enough and darker". :funny:

Can't win. Maybe I have missed something but I don't think I've seen one overall negative reaction, so I suspect this is more nitpicking according to personal preference of the first films tone. Given the reaction to the first film this is an almost impossible feat imo. Can't wait to see them pul it off.

I suggest you watch @Guardians BEFORE #AgeOfUltron. Provides background info on elements that may pop up in #Avengers :) #AvengersEvent

Watch GOtg? I am surprise that that movie is more relevant than something like TWS

And also..pls post the mid credit scene :) in spoiler tag of course

I know I'm stepping into a minefield by saying this but here goes.

Early reviews mean nothing one way or the other but it's music to my ears hearing that it is darker and isn't as "fun." I was one of the few who didn't even remotely love the first film and I didn't love the excessively airless fluffy tone either. I'm sure the tone isn't excessively dark nor was I asking for it to be but I was hoping for a tone more in line with Winter Soldier. Hopefully I like AOU more, I know I've been enjoying the trailers more than the first film's.

This has been, I SEE SPIDEY's unpopular opinion post.

Something in tone with TWS sounds great to me. Light and fun is great, but it has to have that edge for me. That edge is what makes it more fun, more enjoyable for me. I had way more fun with TWS then the Avengers.

Definitely.

Count me in as well. TWS had the perfect tone. It has serious stakes, but it still had moments of levity, a heavy cool factor (I mean, falcon, dammit, how cool is he?), and while it was serious, it was also really fun and engaging. AoU having more serious stakes is a plus to me, and I'm sure it will be more memorable than TA because of that.

Someone posted the mid-credits scene? If anyone finds out send PM me. Please! :)

I liked the first movie but find its get less and less enjoyable on re-watch, I think a factor in this is the lack of emotion and the comedy wearing thin after a while, and funnily enough its a complaint I have had for many MCU movies. So to hear that the sequel is darker, more serious and more emotional is music to my ears as well. Its sounds this is more in line with Serenity which is still Joss' beat movie for me, that had some very dark and emotional moments with some very funny ones as well. I don't care what these tweets say if AOU is darker and.more emotional I am a happy bunny.

Avengers is the film I had the most fun with followed by GOTG. But really all the MCU films have been a blast to watch, entertaining as hell and immensely rewatchable (and quotable!).

Someone spoil me please!!!

Another reaction: Non-stop action, laughs, surprises & story, Avengers Age of Ultron doesn't disappoint. FYI, be sure to stay after the credits

The tweets sound great, as expected. The most important thing for me is that the AMC Movie Talk crew loved it, as I'm well aware of how their opinions relate to mine.

These tweets were never made by Ketchum. It's a joke from another forum and the original links lead back to all his negative reviews on Superhero movies.

It's hard to believe someone would say he said something like that just because they didn't like what he had to say about a movie, but I guess some people just load up on their stupid pills every now and then.

Thanks for the clarification. I was hoping (and thought) we were past that level of "thinking".

Yeah that Ketchum dude hated DoFP and GoTG (I don't know what he thought about TWS, but he probably hated that one too :P), but everyone else so far really likes it, so I hope the positive reactions keep coming (and I'm happy that Hawkeye gets great parts and it seems Scarlet Witch stood out too :D).

If he didn't like GotG, I basically don't care about his opinion because it's very different than mine.

I don't know about you guys but I am thrilled with these reactions, so it isn't perfect(for some) no film is think about the task Joss had to accomplish! The mere fact alone that he made something coherent out of alllllll these elements is a feat unto itself.

Early reviews confirm my worry about cramming too much in. However, I don't know how this new film could possibly live up to the bar set by the previous one. I don't think we're talking about Spidey 2 here.

The cramming too much in thing may seem worrysome but it could be one of those things where us comic guys are really going to eat it up. lol

Time will tell and we'll all probably have slightly different opinions. I'm just waiting......for.......3.........long..........weeks..........to.........pass. I know I'm going to love it. A lot of people will tell you that TA wasn't their favorite MCU movie.....to each their own.....

Yeah I have very little concern about cramming it in. Its an Avengers movie, its kinda what they have to do. Everyones got to have their moment. Now if they tacked on 15 minnutes to this movie, maybe it would have helped. Time will tell.

Good, Spider-man 2 is overrated.

Plus I'm willing to bet Avengers will be the better trilogy by far.

Hey it shouldn't be too long before we get score clips right?

Wait till we see the extremely crammed CW..that film better be 3hours long
