SO excited to see what they show for AoU!
half hour peeps
Why not? The first 3 individual movies made money, and the actors were all under contract. It could have gone down that way...though it isn't surprising that it didn't.
But yeah as others have said the article in general was [email protected]#$. I mean when he went on the spiel about how the movies are inconsistent with the comics it was clear he's just an angry fanboy. EVERY comic book movie makes changes from the comics. It was that way decades before the MCU was even a thought much less a reality.
The fact that many people respond with smileys and personal insults gives a lot of credence to this author's point: that many fans are illogically loyal to the MCU franchise.
Disneys Acquisition Of Marvel
Not legit. Marvel was always going to be kid friendly, that's where the money is.
Poorly Set-Up Cinematic Universe
Somewhat legit. They've had to handwave a couple things. Most of it has grown in a naturalistic way.
Too Much Damn Comedy
Ill-worded. The over reliance on comedy makes for poorer films. More thought to theme, dialogue, story and drama would make for higher quality films that stand the test of time rather than films that simply last long enough for the next one.
Its The Producers Vision Over The Directors
Legit. This extends to the actors. Marvel has capitalized on their position and changed the balance of power between the studio and the directors and the actors too.
Nobody Seems To Care About Plot Inconsistencies
Not legit. Not only are most inconsistencies dealt with in the films, but they have prequel comics to deal with ones that would be obtuse to explain in films. So clearly, several people care.
The Heroes Are Inconsistent
Not legit. The arcs for each character have been consistent and natural.
The Critics Now Live In A Bubble
Legit. The MCU is much higher rated than it would be if they were standalone films.
Theres A New Schism Between Comic Book Fans And Non-Comic Book Fans
Not legit. There are just more non-comic book fans for the old old schism.
The Villains Are Lame
Legit. Outside of Loki, everyone else is mediocre on film. Whiplash being left on the cutting room floor is case in point that the MCU doesn't care about their villains, because they don't need them to be deep/interesting/important for financial and critical success due to the above.
Not legit. All of that stuff is totally explained. Not liking an explanation doesn't make it stupid.
What's air right now on ABC? Before the special?
If you saw my post on the matter, you'd see that I responded to 2 or 3 of his reasons which were valid criticisms but the rest was nonsense imo.
Your post stood out to me, yeah, but others, especially in the comments section of the article, where several orders of magnitude higher.
I feel stupider for having read that article. Half the entries make me go "So, are you going to explain the problem at some point?", and the other half are retreads of every bitter fanboy "how dare this be popular" post ever.
He should pay attention a bit more when watching the Marvel films. Cap 2 and IM3 are films that are heavy on plot, if you don't pay attention to dialogue and what not, you'll miss somethings and come to the conclusions that they're either plot holes or inconsistences.
Ahhhhh this documentary is AWESOME!!!
Also, to be more specific, one of his complaints is that Feige is providing the creative direction, rather than the directors. To which I say: "Yes, and?" Every movie needs a source of creative direction, but it doesn't have to be the director. Its the same "evil Feige getting in the way of _____ director making his own true and awesome movie" pablum that Alexei used to peddle on every thread before he got banned.
Give us spoilers after it's over!
I'm calling it now.
Steve Rogers is going to die in Age of Ultron or at least be close to death when the credits roll.
Captain America 3 will pick up with Barnes taking on the mantle of Captain America.
I think Marvel's got a huge cliffhanger up their sleeve which explains why they're playing chicken with WB. The death of an avenger would be an ace up their sleeve.
This is SO great!
Article's bunk. A buncha old complaints that've been argued to death here rehashed and expressed as if it were some big revelation. It's so tiring to even bother bumping back yet again. Just so sick of people writing off other people's heart, passion, and energy with overused pretensions like "drivel" and "trite" from their armchairs. In a time where a studio is actually giving a **** about their content instead of spooling out Bay/Emmerich-esque cash grabs is this really a battle you need to keep instigating online? Oh wait, I forgot it's all about "BEAUTIFUL MONEY"!
That said, anyone's perfectly free to dislike what they dislike, it's just the condescension of people having to "educate" fans on why the **** they connect with actually sucks that's obnoxious. We get it, you read the Wikipedia on three-act structure and tone, have a cookie.
Anyways, this abc special's a solid fluff piece so far, fun to look back on the first few movies.
Sounds pretty good so far...for those of us who can't watch it!
Haha, I really think this or something like this is close to the truth in some of these cases.
Its so amazing how fast they put this thing together. Its got footage from Obama announcing that they're building iron man lol
was that concept art for SW and QS?
Scarlet With Quicksilver concept art in the documentary
Holy **** HULKBUSTER
HULKBUSTER oh goodness
Hulk vs Hulkbuster in AoU!!!!
I just squealed like a little girl. So the Johannesburg set is
a battle between Iron Man and Hulk, with Tony in the Hulkbuster armor!
Hulk Buster in Age of Ultron!
