yeah it's interesting that the pilot of SHIELD said level 7 agents could know about Coulson, yet Cap was said to be level 8 in the new film and he still supposedly doesn't know

As of the pilot episode Cap wasn't a Level 8 (that occurred at some point off screen between the pilot and CA:TWS which I figure to be at least a 6 month gap). Also, there's still a 'need to know' element. Even if Cap is a Level 8, if he doesn't need to know the information, he's not going to be told it (and believing Coulson to be dead, he has no reason to go looking for information on him either) that and/or there's also individual restrictions that could come into play (Coulson came across this type of roadblock when he tried to get information on his own recovery file)

I was going to say the same thing. Just because you have clearance for something doesn't mean you have to know everything that is cleared for said level.

Fury even mentioned it in TWS as "compartmentized" secrets.

yeah I was more talking about afterwards where all of shield secrets are out there. I would think a guy like tony wouldn't miss an opportunity like this. but I think we'll know about this in both AOS and AOU

SHIELD was actually a terrible organization to me. All they did was keep secrets, steal peoples information and were massively corrupted from the start. They probably caused more problems for the world than anything else. Zolas computer pretty much said HYDRA acting as SHIELD were responsible for tons of detrimental history changing events.

One small example from recent times: THEY WERE GOING TO NUKE NEW YORK!!

SHIELD was/is a mega fail and I hope they dont try to restart it

^ Here here. Fury knew what Project Insight was and he convinced the WSC to go ahead with it. Maybe he didn't realise Hydra were planning on wiping out millions of people but he still said to Cap 'we are gonna neutralize a lot of threats before they even happen' i mean that ain't right.

^^ Fury def didnt know that HYDRA was going to execute millions of innocent people that hadnt done anything yet, he wouldnt agree to something like that. But still, Caps comment about Project Insight being about "fear, not freedom" was right on. SHIELD was moving into territory that was bad for everyone involved thanks to 70 years of HYDRA secretly running them. The MCU world should thank Cap & Co for taking them down.

I know Fury wouldn't have known, but he knew what Insight was capable of and clearly intended to use it to stop criminals before they even did the crime, which really is going beyond the morally grey area.

You missed the part about Skye being a super hacker. Just like someone quoted for you earlier when she calls it the nuclear option it means just that. Once it is done no coming back from it. So unless Stark downloaded all the data when it was dropped (and that was a TON of data) then he would have to either write a program to sift through the relevant data or have JARVIS do that. Stark has no reason to go looking for Coulson so it's doubtful he would come across the information in the time frame he had before Skye got rid of all of it, and believe me, if there is one thing they established that Skye can do it's make the net her beotch.

Also Stark proved in IM2 he can hack himself so if he knew what to look for he would have already found it.

I think the better question is when he tells Hill "tell Stark I said hi, oh wait he thinks I'm dead" He should have added tell him I said hi anyway and give me a call. No reason to keep up the charade now, Stark could only benefit them in this time of need and I'm sure with the revelation that HYDRA may have had a hand in his parents deaths I'm sure he would be all about a black ops mission going against a HYDRA strike team

that was my first thought when we learned hydra killed his parents. it could be his hank pym moment while making ultron

I'm sure Stark has all the best computers and it was downloaded as fast it was loaded up and JARVIS was sifting through it and prioritizing info in a matter of nano seconds. And he wasn't the only one downloading.

The idea that Skye could wipe it all out is the most unbelievable thing in the MCU - and that's saying something. If data could be wiped after the fact then Black Widow would have done it and protected some of her secrets or at rescued at least one secret identity.

Interesting idea about what might spur Tony on to Ultron.

Well you Skye wouldn't be able to delete anything that was already downloaded by someone but she could scrub everything on the net so that it wouldn't be able to download again. Really Stark is probably the only one that would

A. Have the capabilities to download everything that was dumped in a relatively short time and store it on a secure server

B. Have the ability to find pertinent files and sift through the junk

As for the BW thing making a new identity for a spy of her level is childs play. She wouldn't be worried about any old ones except for maybe the missions she ran while under one of those guises but since the missions are out there anyway it is moot.
Also BW made a conscience choice to move towards her role as a superhero/Avenger with nothing to hide. If your reading her current new run in the 616 all she does in her off time is jobs that she has vetted to make amends for her past and uses the money she makes from that to run international trust funds for the victims of her past crimes which is a cool thing I hope they explore in the MCU

level 7 or higher agents knew coulson was alive tho right? and he was operating in shield so shouldn't be his name or some of his missions etc in some sort of documents?

I am sure we will get more clear info about that in the upcoming episodes and we probably gonna know what direction will they go

Yeah apparently, unless they were working with any of the Avengers.
Seems like anyone that Phil was close to IN SHIELD at level 7 knew he was brought back. Hill and May both were close to Fury and MAY had worked with Phil a long time ago closely so I'm sure they were there when they were bringing Phil back to life at T.A.H.I.T.I.
Well most of the season was explaining how he was brought back. We might even find out next week everything else, then the season finale will lead into next season.
