I'm entitled to my opinion just like everyone else. I don't have to read thru every post on these boards to put forth my opinion, which is what you are doing when you post. Whatever man.

That's fine, but if you read the posts that came after it you would've seen me say I was just speaking from excitement.

I hope you're right; I really want this to be Marvel's highest grossing film ever. Then I'll never have to read people refer to Cap and Thor as "B-list" again.

They sure aren't B-listers in my book, I like to consider them A-listers who haven't been given a chance (until last year).

I **** my pants :wow:

9.4 million from UK in only 2 days and one was a preview day

It is going beyond 15 million for sure

How close to Potter's 23 million?

It won't beat Potter in Britain. It just won't.

Earth's mightiest heroes conquered the box office as THE AVENGERS scored $178.4 mil in 39 territories opening #1 in every market.

Marvel’s ‘The Avengers’ $178.4M Overseas: Continues Breaking Box Office Records

Still more countries are reporting grosses. The superhero super-blockbuster doesn’t come out in the U.S. until May 4th but already it’s scooping up 60+% of all pre-sold movie tickets online and more than all the previous Marvel films combined.

My sources report $178.4M international box office in its first 5 days of release in 39 territories. Marvel‘s The Avengers from Disney now is playing in approximately 70% of its foreign run. Latin and South America dominated with the highest opening weekend of all time in major markets like Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Central America, Peru, and Boliva. As well as the Asian makets which had the highest opening weekends like Hong King, Taiwan, Malaysia, Philippines. Big ticket nations like Russia, China and Japan still to open, and May Day is a huge holiday. TThe pic is ahead of Alice In Wonderland, Pirates Of the Caribbean 4, Iron Man 2, and The Dark Knight.

Might have enough juice to pass TF3 for 4th highest worldwide total ever. Depends on domestic

The Incredibles is, well... incredible.

It's everything I wanted Fantastic Four to be, but obviously wasn't. Now that I've got a kid, I really need to invest in the blu-ray.

Anyways, my new prediction:

Avengers OW: $162 mil.
DOM: $390-$400 mil.
WW: $475 mil.
$162 is real possibilty at this point .

Just curious ,
After OW weekend what did HP Deathly Hallows 2 drop to ?

Isn't it about time for someone to pop in and tell us that Deadline and the other sites posting the official box office numbers are looking at this like fans?

As I said before, The Avengers is shaping up to be a global phenomenon. Now I'm really interested in seeing what goes on in the coming days. If that runaway freight train keeps barreling down the tracks the ending numbers will be massive. And Feige could end up chairman of Disney, sad though that would be for Marvel fans.

If Avengers beats Harry Potter's UK opening weekend I will be like this :wow:

Potter is huge franchise and was only last year, so prices are not much different

Potter had around 23 million

Avengers has 18 million with Sunday still to come

So it had 7 on Friday, 8 on Saturday, 2.5 on Thursday, if i gets around 6 million Sunday it beats it

Actually I think it only needs about $5M to match or beat HP8's opening.

I think to even be in and around the same ball park is impressive considering how crazy those Potter fans are :woot:

Very impressive news. Btw here in Singapore, IMAX 3D tickets are almost all out for the rest of the week nights. It opens tomorrow night to coincide with the public holiday on May 1st; tickets are pretty much sold out on that day.

The strategy of releasing TA to take advantage of the respective countries' holidays is paying off incredibly well.

That's fine, but if you read the posts that came after it you would've seen me say I was just speaking from excitement

If I wanted to spend time arguing with another poster I'd head over to AICN for that. It's why I come here cause it's more civil and doesn't sink into petty arguments and personal attacks. I'm done.

Is it true that TA will come out in August for Japan? That doesn't seemed like a smart move for one of asia's major movie market.

We might get to a stage where Avengers has something like 950,000,000 total worldwide, so then we all "come on Japan!!, go see Avengers" trying to get it over the billion :woot:
