Infinity War The Avengers: Infinity War The Official News and Speculation - - - - - - Part 21

Quipping was fine in the airport fight since nobody was trying to kill each other (Save for T'Challa trying to kill Bucky, I guess), but it's not like Steve, Tony and Bucky were kidding around in the final fight. I have no problem with quips. Thor: Ragnarok is basically 75% comedy and I have no complaints there, but there were a few too many in that end battle of Age of Ultron. Civil War dealing with the aftermath of that battle shines a bad light on it too. Considering how many lives were lost, the "hide the zucchini" line in the middle of all that seems in poor taste. Same with Widow and Hawkeye driving around discussing his home renovations. There were a few that I didn't mind, like Hawkeye being fed up with Quicksilver's smartassery and Steve saying "Fury, you son of a *****" upon seeing the Helicarrier, but there was a little too much levity in there for the apparent seriousness of the threat, which didn't seem that big until Civil War highlighted it.

Again, for me it is a staple of the genre. I have read comics with very serious stakes do exactly the same thing, and many of them are regarded as classics. I'd also say Iron Man 2 & 3, Thor: Ragnarok, etc all were pretty quippy in the climaxes as well. I never once thought the Avengers were not taking the situation seriously. I was fine with the banter.

This should be the team's tagline:
AVENGERS: We quip under pressure.

Keep in mind that Marvel may have CGI’d out stones in Thanos’ gauntlet to avoid spoilers!

My guess on the stones:

Thanos gets the space stone first, killing Loki and zapping Thor into the Galaxy with the stone’s power.

Thanos uses the space stone to travel to Xandar and to the Collector and sends the Black Order out to locate the others on Earth. Guardians hear about Xandar and run into Thor.

Thanos then travels to Earth to go after the Mind Stone and Time Stone at Wakanda. He succeeds. Vision dies.

The last stone, the Soul Stone, is lost in space and time. Thanos needed the other stones in order to retrieve the Soul Stone, located on his destroyed Home World.

Those that are annoyed with all the "quips" sound like they've never watched an action movie before. Every single one of them have light hearted "quips" during the action scenes. Every one.

I mean, why does everyone want every thing to be super serious and "dark"? I feel like I'm back in the 90's again...

That is about how I see it playing out

Did Thanos take the stone shown in the first Guardians of the Galaxy?

I also think they are messing with us with which stones Thanos has and when.

Lots of misdirection there. You dont want people guessing the story/timeline but you want them to get the idea of what the movie is about.

I do believe that getting the space stone from Loki first would make sense considering the ending of Thor Ragnarok but anything is possible.

All I hope for is that they show us how each stone was taken.

No that stone is Xandar currently. Or do you mean in the movie? Your question confuses me.

Since Thanos was seen in both Titan (where he fought against IM, Strange. Spider Man, and Guardians) and at Wakanda (where he fought against Cap, BP, Hulk, WS, Falcon, and WM), I wonder which scene is the last one. I also think Soul Stone might e in a very unexpected place, like Quantum Realm.

Good one, but not sure about the last 2 paragraphs.

Isn't the scene on Titan supposed to take place before the battle of Wakanda?

We don't know. I personally think it is after.

I once thought the same scenario; but, I do not anymore. I now subscribe to the probability that Thanos indeed seize the Power gem 1st....for two reasons:

First, because of the latest trailer & second, because Fiege, which make much sense to me now, stated that we will see from the opening scene, just why Thanos is the ultimate villain in the MCU.

So, I suspect the opening scene is Thanos destroying Xandar, to establish the enormous threat that MCU find itself pressed upon. The events of Ragnorok was taking place about the same time Thanos was well into seizing the Power gem & on his way to Asgard to attain the Space gem....realizing, it may be in his best interest & easier if face the might of Asgard, with the Power gem in hand. Obviously, not knowing the events that had already taken place there....the events of Ragnorok.

So is it safe to assume Korg and Miek are dead?

No, there's many options open so we can't assume anything. I'd however say that the likeliest outcome is that some on the Asgardian ship survive because of how Tessa Thompson has pushed for an all female superhero film in the MCU. If Valkyrie survives so can Korg and Miek.

This interview from IGN with Dania Gurira seems to confirm that the Guardians do show up at the Wakandan battle:

The Avengers won’t be coming to Wakanda alone. The Guardians of the Galaxy will also be joining the battle. When T’Challa revealed Wakanda’s true nature to the United Nations and the world in order to share their resources to help others, a talking raccoon and his walking tree friend probably weren’t what he had in mind. While Okoye certainly won’t be happy about them coming to Wakanda, too, that didn’t stop Gurira from enjoying the filming experience.
“It was really exciting for me to encounter all of them,” she said of filming scenes with the Guardians. “It was interesting to see this whole mashup happen, and then be a part of it.”

Those images shown earlier are from the new Empire issue. I read the magazine and here is the most interesting bits of information i found.

(Duration of the movie) - “I think you’re looking at, ballpark, two-and-a-half hours.” Joe Russo.

Thanos sends the Black Order to Earth in order to retrieve the Infinity Stones.

[BLACKOUT]Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive beat the **** out of Vision and Scarlet Witch. They get rescued by Captain America, Black Widow and The Falcon. It’s a brutal fight scene with not much dialogue.[/BLACKOUT]
“We structured that scene more like a horror film.” - Anthony Russo.

[BLACKOUT]Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Wong and Bruce Banner face off against Cull Obsidian and Ebony Maw. The spaceship hovering over New York is theirs. Cull Obsidian is not in a good mood… Iron Man tries desperately to get to Banner who is having a hard time transforming into the Hulk. The attack from Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian is specifically targeted at Doctor Strange and the Time Stone.
[/BLACKOUT]
(About the “MCU villain problem”) - “People aren’t going to have a problem with Thanos anymore.” - Anthony Russo.

(About Thanos) - “He’s an exceedingly difficult character to beat” “He’s stronger than the Hulk. He’s more like Genghis Khan. He’s a force of nature. He has a spiritual wisdom well beyond all the other characters. He is a conqueror of worlds. He doesn’t have a weakness, and that’s what makes him so treatning.”

“The one thing that character deaths do is remind you that the world has stakes.” - Anthony Russo.

So, are characters going to die? “Without question.” - Joe Russo.

Well could you share what some of the "many options" are?

I don't mind "quips" in movies. As long as they are funny & not forced or out of place. Whedon is not funny in my opinion. And he forces stupid things.

And to the person who just had to remind me about Black Widow saying "At long last is lasting a little long, boys"
I 100% agree with you.

Okay now that sounds badass, especially the
Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive attack
being structured like a horror film.
Cull Obsidian and Ebony Maw going after Strange isn't a surprise though, but I'm curious to see how that scene goes down, especially since Banner won't be able to change into Hulk
.

I can't even imagine all the cast salaries on this. For sure the likes of Pratt and Johansson must be on $10-15 million for this. So many A-listers in this, it's mind-boggling.

Has the rumor of Downey getting $100 million for this been confirmed? I remember when it was only Cruise, Smith, Depp, Sandler, Hanks, Schwarzenegger, DiCaprio, Roberts could get $20-25 million a film and he's completely blown them all away.

Spider-Fan already answered your question in the last thread:

Downey is not getting 100mil up front. He likely has a certain upfront fee (call it $10 mil for argument sake) plus like 1% or 2% of the BO sales. If this ends up being a 1.5 billion dollar film, that 1 or 2% (possibly higher given it is RDJ) will add up to over 100mil along with his up front fee (whatever it is).
