Wow. I thought I was the only one.
HOnestly though I might be more likely to like her in this if she wasnt played by ScarJo, who I dont really like as an actress

Agreed. I was very interested to see Widow when Emily Blunt was rumored for the part, but I lost alot of interest after ScarJo stepped in and then even more after IM2.

As female characters go, I'm much more interested to see Hill, just because I :hrt: Smulders.

I just don't like Widow. She has no business being in this film.

I think Widow most certainly has a place, but she to me, works best in the espionage "is she a hero? is she a villain? what's her game? who's side is she on?" sort of way. Yes, she always seems to be good, but she isn't afraid to do bad things for the greater good. I'm afraid starting her out on this team, and being the only female on the team, will sort of water down this far too much. In fact... i kinda hope during a part of the movie, she seems to betray the whole team. And maybe at the end, leaves it.

I really loved the way she was handled in Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and really hope they capture that in this movie.

I don't mind BW, because I realize that The team needs a female representative and a love interest for Hawkeye but I'd have much rather of had Jan as Wasp instead.

yeah, i really wanted blunt in the role. I think she would have done wonders. It still boggles my mind that she decided to do Gulliver over Iron Man 2... it had failure written all over it from the start.

Fox forced her to do the role.

That said, Black Widow most definitely deserves to be in this movie, as does Scarlett.

****ing love these pics and bits of footage from the teaser. Oh, man I guess it's released tomorrow.

The nine picture deal probably scared her off.

I love Smulders too

I couldve sworn that I read and article where she said it was also that BW had such a long commitment to it, you know probably like a 6 movie deal or something

I dont like Jan that much, but I think she wouldve been a better fit than BW.
I think Sharon Carter wouldve/would be a better fit than both of them though

Sharon Carter is in the movie though, she's just not an Avenger. Black Widow fits perfectly as the female representative because they don't have time to develop two more solo movie characters, so they established SHIELD in all of the movies and chose two of the top agents.

That has yet to be officially confirmed though.

Do we know that? I hadn't heard that for sure yet.

Okay, a few hours later I got already used to the Thor costume. It probably really is only the lack of a cape that makes him look like a WWE wrestler and the rather nonsensical design for the metal on his armor. I can live with that. I still would've preferred something different, but I can live with that.

Cap on the other hand may take a while.

I thought they were going to be raised because of that drawing we saw a month back ..... ah well .....

See, I have a theory on the costume, I think there are two seperate cowls, the hard covered helmeted one, and a softer one, more like 616, made from the same material as his costume. If you look at the costume pics from comic con, you can see the material that goes up the neck goes all the way under the helmet, and if you look at that recent Avengers still of Cap, you can see a hood like cowl hanging over his shoulders. Perhaps THAT is the one we saw with the wings... Just throwing it out there.

Even without the wings, I love the look of having the hood/cowl draped over the back like a hoodie, it just reminds me of all the Marvel comics scenes where characters like Cap and Wolvie are chatting to each other in costume, with their cowls hanging back. It just immediately shouts out 'Superhero Downtime to me' which I love :P :P

If it's not Hayley Atwell as Sharon, I'm not interested.

@r Hythlodeus, I think Thor's Cape is like his chainmail, where when he doesn't need it, it kinda retracts. I really like it, because he needed a casual outfit. You can see more of the blue tunic underneath the armour, which looks great. It adds more depth to the design, gives it the look of more layers.

I don't know what you're talking about;Thor does has a cape.

To be fair, Thor isn't wearing a cape indoors, but he has it on in the outdoor action scene. That makes sense. Capes aren't very practical garments when they might swing around and sweep things off a table, get stepped on or get on the way.

Honestly, I think that's all we're getting until the first real trailer. Or at least until whatever is on the Thor blu-ray.

I'm contemplating completely bowing out of this thread and all Avengers news from now on until release.

I feel like I've been so oversaturated with marvel news and the like over the last year, and with the Avengers probably being the most significant film ever made for any Marvel fan, I think it's a film I really want to be completely surprised by.

In Cap I actually found it really distracting when I recognised bits and pieces from trailers and things I'd read. It'd be nice to be surprised and blown away with Avengers.

can you imagine the coat rack in that meeting room. cap's shield, mjolnir, iron mans suitcase armor.
