lol we've barely heard any cast announcements for this film other than the major players.. and the reason i say samson, is because I would think they'd need to bring on a psychologist to help banner. also.. none of these supporting cast should be major players in the movie.. they should be nothing but cameos for the most part

Perhaps; but then again, we're still waiting to see if Nick Fury wanted to recruit Banner/Hulk, or if he wanted to keep them both in check. If he wanted to recruit 'them', then I would think that he'd trust Banner enough to keep the Hulk Persona in check.

If Natalie Portman weren't such a big star, let alone having just given birth, I would have thought that she'd be a given to be in the Avengers due to how Thor ended, but we have yet to see that.

Heck, I'm still trying to figure out if Sharon Carter is really in this film as some have speculated, and in a way it would be nice since it'd given Steve's character a way to let out his emotions and help find some type of closure but at the same time, it would break the hearts of Atwell's fans on who want to see her play the role as well.lol

So guys, I thought I'd share the theory I'm rocking at the moment...

Either Derek Luke's character is actually Nick Fury's father, orrrrrr they are potentially going with the infinity formula thing and that IS Fury.

I can't see any other reason why Derek Luke's involvement was kinda kept fairly secretive in Avengers. There's got to be some significance to that character, and it could definitely be the thing that enables Cap to trust Fury.

What is there to actually beleive Derek Luke/Gabe Jones is in the film? Only rumors so far. Didn't Luke kind of put the rumors to rest a week ago too?

Assuming if that were true, the guy in me would be telling him if I were Steve:

"WHY DIDN'T YOU GIVE SOME TO PEGGY SO THAT SHE COULD BE HERE WITH ME!!!"

:oldrazz:

Correct me if I'm wrong folks, but wasn't one of CA's teammates in EMH's from the 40's, Nick Fury's father?

If so, would they play that somewhat into the film?

Hello, guys. I'm finally back after having a second 24/7 flight from SD to my city (yeah, it's nerve-wracking).

Sorry, if I was absent during the whole week. San Diego Comic-Con was such an important & personal thing for me (since it was my very first Comic-Con), that I really had no time for doing some things at once.

It was such an amazing & groundbreaking experience, really. I had a blast, talking with all Marvel/Disney colleagues from abroad & spending some time with a lot of incredible people, including mr. Clark Gregg. And The Amazing Spider-Man panel was astonishing! As a big fan of the character, new cast & new direction for this movie - I was thrilled with each second of this magnificent panel.

Now, since I'm back, the questions, that you've been asking me for a while + some info of my own:

1) No, I do not know, why Yahoo decided to cut the Avengers teaser in half. Must be some kind of a stupid mistake or a bad request from Paramount folks. It's beyond my understanding, why they didn't released the full theatrical version, since Disney approved the trailer's release and it was attached to the end of CA: TFA.

2) I've spoke to some people at THQ department at SDCC & they had no idea about The Avengers game or whatsoever.

3) I've also had a spectacular talk with some people at Hasbro (Marvel Department) guys & we can expect looots of Avengers-related action figures from them next year, starting from March.

If all goes well with the sales, you'll even get some kind of Earth's Mightiest Heroes (animated series) action figures, but until then - nothing is for sure.

Also, somehow Hasbro is saying, that they're calling the round arc-reactor armor from the Avengers movie - Mark VII, rather than Mark VIII. Now, this is really weird, since I've spoke to some of the Iron Man armor's designers & they kept saying, that he'll have two new armors in the movie (MKVII & MKVIII).

Then again, if there's no MKVIII, then it's really pointless for Stark to have Mark VI (as we all saw in the Cap after-credits trailer) in the movie. I mean, it's like having a Mark III armor during the whole time in Iron Man 2, instead of wearing Mark IV.

* Oh, and I really loved Captain America movie. Saw it with lots of other comic book fans on the 21st of July screening & it was so unbelievable, because you don't have that kind of thing in Russia, where you can discuss some comics-related stuff (like Mark Waid & Brubaker's Cap) in theater with someone, who's so deep into this as much as you are.

Okay, I guess that's all for today. I'll post more stuff very soon, once I'll deal with some unfinished stuff & interviews from SDCC. If you've got any more questions - send em in.

Thanks RIM! This place felt soulless without your scoops!

Great to see you here again RIM! I was beginning to wonder if CA wasn't the only hero around here that's gone MIA as well.lol Needless to say, you were well missed.

On a sidenote, as for my usual speculation for the villains of this film, on how I keep saying that there must be some other threat that Nick Fury is aware of that the Avengers will face (aside from Loki) in the upcoming film; well after seeing the latest CA TV spot, and thus, the extended final scene from Modern Day NY between Fury and Steve, I'm still thinking that Fury is aware of something else going around out there in the world that is or will pose a threat to the world itself.

I mean, I truly do believe that Loki will be a badass and Major villain in this film, but in the same time, I still think that there's potentially another Antagonistic Entity in the MCU that will make its presence known in the Avengers, and thus them having to defeat it in order to save the entire planet.

1. Nick Fury has been trying to assemble the Avengers since the events of Iron Man 1 (when Loki wasn't even a known threat at the time).

2. In the extended dialogue for the recent TV spot for CA:TFA, Fury mentions that the world still needs someone like Steve and that the "work isn't finished".

3. In the Teaser at the end of CA, Fury mentions that he's trying to get Steve to help save the world.

4. Apparently, Nick Fury is trying to harness the power of the Cosmic Cube for some reason, and I think it's in order to combat some type of enemy.

I might be going crazy, but I'm a firm believe on the idea that there will be something much bigger than Loki, or just as big as him, present in the film that the team will HAVE to defeat at the end of it.

Just another thought I had from seeing Cap, when we see Howard Stark recover the cosmic cube, is that perhaps a hint as to where he got the idea for the arc reactor? From this 'new' source of energy? Perhaps he loses the cube and is trying to recreate it's power.

Wouldn't be surprised since the scene featuring him trying to tinker with some of its power from the device that Steve had brought in from the Red Skull's facility reminded me of when Tony was trying to create his new Arc reactor in IM2.

Yeah, I was even thinking how funny it would be if he said the same thing as Tony when he knocks himself backwards with the repulsor ray

"I was not expecting that!"

Although "Take that down!" was still pretty funny.

Indeed.

I was relatively surprised on how they were able to interpret Howard's character in CA in a way that echoed Tony's character in the Iron Man films, without making a direct carbon copy of the character as well.

I'm still hoping to see the fact that Steve knew Howard Stark when it comes to interactions between Steve and Tony, and what Howard may have told Tony about Captain America when he was growing up since it was obvious to me that Howard really respected Steve.

I want to talk about something very interesting. After watching a clip from "The Consultant" short it looks like Nick Fury wants to release Emil Blonsky (The Abomination) with permission from Gen. Ross, and Agent Sitwell and Agent Coulson are trying to come up with a way to make sure Ross denies it so they make a plan to send Tony Stark in order to annoy the General so he denies. From that it looks like Fury wants The Abomination on The Avengers. Thats an interesting way to go about the scene with Ross/Stark and its the perfect way to make sense of what went down after that scene.

not sure i understand how annoying ross will get him to do a favor for shield. wouldn't they want to "scratch his back so he will scratch theirs"?

With Ross denying abomy to join the team, that leaves room for fury to track down hulk...

No, Fury wants Ross to release Blonsky in order for him to join The Avengers. Sitwell and Coulson dont want Blonsky in the team so they conspire against Fury by sending Stark in to annoy Ross to the core so when Stark tells him they want Blonsky released he would give him a big no. Pretty simple way of explaining that scene simply. Im down with it.

Do we know at all if Betty Ross will be in the Avengers?

Who'd play her I wonder.

Yep. In the trailer there are shots of S.H.I.E.L.D outside a cabin. Pretty sure it is outside Banner's cabin at the end of TIH.

Liv Tyler would play her. But no, Betty as far as we know is not in the movie. But she could be added in later on.

Do you have a link to the clip?
