That's his MO. He did the same thing with that POS movie he made with Meghan Fox. He praised her as a great actress (in fact, he might've even said she was the best he'd worked with) and then turned around after it was out and poo-pooed all over it.

Yep. Just did a quick google search, he apparently described her as "probably the best young actress I’ve ever worked with… At 23, I couldn’t do half of what she’s doing.” And now he says he meant that she was better than some of the other young actresses in his films.
He also slammed the movie they starred in, Passion Play, and another one of his movies, 13, and has since called Martin Mcdonagh, the director of his soon to be released film Seven Psychopaths, a jerk off.
Wow, given his track record, I think at the end of the day he's the problem. I have no doubt Marvel cut out a good deal of his character, but I sympathize with him much less now that I realize hissy fits are all part of the job for him.

Wow...in another installment of Mickey Rourke whining about Iron Man 2, he now accuses Jon Favreau of having "no balls"....

Seriously, he sounds like a broken record. "Layers, depth, characters, blah". We get it, you were disappointed with IM2. I wonder why he's just now speaking out so heavily against it?

Rourke may have been given a second chance for his career thanks to Aronofsky's The Wrestler, but his constant rant against IM2 and Marvel just because he didn't get to have the movie he wants will be heard by the rest of the Hollywood, and actors who gained a bad reputation or known for being difficult to work with will get a blacklist from the movie studios. Rourke should just keep his mouth shut, because when it comes to bad movies, he has starred in quite a few (Johnny Handsome, Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man, etc).

Rourke sucks. It's rare to see a grown man act like such a baby. Also strange to see someone his age who apparently STILL doens't really understand how the world works. Here's hoping his career goes into the toilet... again.

I fear that in order to give other heroes more credit for heroism they may have written Hulk as a villain, mind controlled by Loki, if that is the case I would be so disappointed. :cmad:

Based on everything that we've heard so far, that doesn't seem like it'll be the case for the film. Heck, I remember reading that Joss had said that the film is more inspired by the original Avengers Comics and that he wasn't going to go down the "Ultimates" route for the interpretation of Hulk's character in this film.

And so far, I've only heard about the Hulk being portrayed as more heroic than chaotic.

Be that as it may, I do believe that there will be a scene in the film where the Hulk has a physical altercation with the group due to his inability to control his temper at times as it was said in the EW interview. But even from that, the Hulk has been constantly referred as one of the heroes of this film instead of villain or even anti-hero.

I definitely want the Hulk portrayed as a hero, but I'm also hoping for a scene where he goes up against the rest of the Avengers. I think that would be such a cool thing to watch and would be a direct nod to he original comic.

I FREAKING LOVE ALL THE MARVEL STUDIOS FILMS, INCLUDING IM2!!!

Anyway, when the Avengers Assemble and the Mickey Mouse PR gets rolling, everyone will know what's about to go down...

Yeah, I think it was also confirmed in the EW article that at some point in the film, the Hulk would get into a brawl with the Avengers due to his anger; and I'm thinking that this takes place on board the Hellcarrier, when Banner transforms into the Hulk after having been blasted out of a window alongside Black Widow.

my "source" was definatley just fake, but he put a lot of effort into trying to convince me otherwise.
So, no new news here.

Sounds a bit like the Michael Bay approach to disappointment. I seem to recall after the Island hit theaters with a resounding thud Bay blamed both Ewan McGreggor and Scarlet Johannson for causing the movie to fail, which I might add was not their fault at all as they were doing the best they could with what they'd been given. I mean come on, what did Bay expect from making a movie that was more or less an unofficial remake of a movie that was lampooned by Mystery Science Theater 3000 called Parts: The Clonus Horror?

In another interview Rourke said the Marvel was 'breaking Jon Favreau's balls'. And now this? I think someone is misinterpreting stuff.

There could be some truth to that since Jon is not doing Iron Man 3

Well, isn't he executive producer on Avengers, and still Happy Hogan in IM3?

As unprofessional as it is for Rourke to come out and trash Marvel and Favreau like that, I'm not that surprised by it. I really enjoyed IM2, but i felt Whiplash was lacking, and felt a little one dimensional.

Sure it's Iron Man's film, but equal effort should be put in for other characters too, story wise. Especially being that he happens to be te main villain.

Anyway, a quick side note! Seeing as news here is quiet lately, I thought i'd share my ow parody trailer of the Avengers (not the Muppets). Tel me what you think of it. :-)

This being the Avengers movie thread I'd like to make an attempt at getting it back on track. Do you guys think the rest of the team will refer to Banner as Banner or Hulk when he's transformed?

I speculated that gamma rays and Vita Rays were one and the same, but Ross didn't reveal that to Banner. It is clear that VR is a type of radiation because Howard Stark built a reactor to produce them for Dr. Erskine in CA:TFA. Back in the early days of nuclear research, the origin and nature of different forms of radiation was often misunderstood, so Erskine and Stark may not have known that they were using gamma radiation. If gamma radiation and the serum were both vital components of the successful creation of a Super Soldier, then giving just one of them to a subject could account for the effects they had.

Gamma rays alone turned Banner into the Hulk, while the knock-off serum by itself made Blonsky an abomination. Put the two together and you'll either get another Captain America or a brand new Red Skull.

Uh no.

Blonsky was treated with gamma radiated blood after already having taken the serum and BECAME the Abomination. You would not get another Cap or Red Skull.

I see the imaginations are running wild with this gamma/vita conspiracy.

I remember one Red Skull manip from way back that had Abomination's head based off the 'SSS gone wrong' angle they were doing for Red Skull. Can't find it, though.

I'd say Banner, but we'll see.

I'd say Banner, but we'll see.

I'd love to see a scene where one of the others refers to Hulk as Dr.Banner, then have the Hulk snap back at them and exclaim "Puny Banner isn't here! Only HULK!!!" :woot:

My excitement has slowed down with this movie. But I'm 345% sure than when the next trailer hits, I'll be all over it again.

Any big news aside from Silvestri scoring?

didn't stark already call him hulk in a convo with loki in some comic con released footage?
