lol...Chris Nolan is one of the best directors out there today, but his fans are suffocatingly annoying. lol..i once said that i thought Peter Jackson was a superior director and i almost got my Internet head cut off.
Anyway, some of the posts there about the Avengers are just sad to read. I don't want to believe some of them actually think like that
I agree. It's bad enough encountering the bickering between the two factions on an unrelated thread. What makes the entire situation irritating is that in the proper thread, it is actually far worse. It has devolved from a civil discussion into non-stop complaining interspersed with streaks of trolling.
Speaking of irritants, I really wish the
news and speculation would cease being a thread for posters to evacuate their sexual impulses upon the cast members of the Avengers. There are separate threads for the respective characters/performers, and I wish the posters would honor it. Whether it is the focus on the Black Widow's derriere or the fixation on shirtless scenes with the leads, the rabidity is irritating, and immature.
I know the studios are guilty for feeding this - whether is the costume designs, closeups emphasizing the body (take for instance the current Avengers animated series: the constant closeups of the Black Widow's derriere stand out like a dead Chitauri) or the emphasis on the current ideal - Olympic Athlete - but, still, it's depressing seeing a performance marketed/embraced on the body of the actor...
Anyway...
Returning to topic, I hope that Paramount/Disney will release a slightly meatier trailer in the future. While I do not want the entire film encapsulated in 2-3 minutes (which is one of the recurring problems with the current release system,) I would not mind having the sketch of the plot finished. Aside from Loki taking up the mantle as antagonist, I feel that a few extra details about the mechanics of his campaign will help. Sure, there have been rumors, leaks, and excerpts from the D-23 expo, but I am talking an official release. It would help lasso in some of the GA and some of the premature critics of the invasion premises. By showing the distinction of the Loki's invasion, it will help dispel the terrible associations with the other invasion films (Battlefield: LA, cough, cough,) and help dissolve some of the anxiety about the film.
I am looking forward to the film. It will be the perfect way to kick off the summer, as it will be released a few days after I graduate college (yeah!) My only concern lies with the 3D conversion...I wish the studios would have paid attention to the past and acknowledged the mistake with the conversions. But, if there is one film worth acquiring a headache for - and I will be prepared, with a bottle of Excedrine on hand - it will be the Avengers.
