Dr. Strange really isn't quirky or oddball.

To me it doesn't make sense to cast him as Dr. Strange. His movies only really do well when he's playing a quirky character. When he isn't they don't do well to justify his pricetag. Hi playing Dr. Strange would be a waste of money. It would open reasonably big and then die off.

Is it that MARVEL wants him?

Although I've heard that he wanted to play the character rather than MARVEL wants him.

The last rumour I heard for DR. STRANGE was that MARVEL wanted Benedict Cumbercatch.

There was a rumor that marvel wanted him, not sure. but that's kinda old, but even til today, some people prefer patrick dempsey for strange, and again, i still dont know why.

Cumberpatch would be fantastic. Never considered him before but I wouldn't mind Strange with an English accent. I'd suggest Hugh Laurie but Doctor House playing Doctor Strange would be a little on the nose and raise too many eyebrows.

I'm on the Dempsey train because he's actually been lobbying for it since he's apparently a fan of the character, and I'd like to see him stretch his range to see what he can do with it. With a trained thespian you know how they'll probably go with it, but with someone you don't expect, that's where the surprises usually come into play.

Actually, a lot of suggestions seem to be people who played doctors in some form. Patrick Dempsey, Hugh Laurie, David Tennant.

I JUST SAW AN AVENGERS TV SPOT ON TV AND IT WAS AWESOME! It actually showed a slight extension of the circle shot and it showed off a bit more of Cap in the shot.

His suit and cowl looked great.

As soon as an actor lobbies hard for a comic character I scrutinize the hell out of him/her. Most of the time that's a big red flag that he/she will put their wants over what the film needs.

When did you hear about this?

Film School Rejects were the ones who broke the news. Hero Complex and AICN confirmed it. If the two that were included with the Thor Blu-ray were successful (which they were) the studio would green light others for both home releases and theatrical release. Since then, though, I haven't heard whether Avengers has one attached to it; which is why I'm asking.

Someone on CBM posted it as being new, my bad.
No it's my bad, there are actually a few small differences, like the Hulk smash shot being mixed in and the circle shot at the end is chopped up

Oh, okay then. I couldn't even tell the difference myself. :funny:

Hahaha glad I'm not the only one who noticed this. It pretty much goes to show why fanboys aren't casting directors.

Whoever suggested Benedict Cumberbatch for Strange gets all my love ever. He'd be brilliant. If he were to hop aboard the MCU, it would round out him being cast in all my favorite movie franchises of the past decade.

I would be down for that (the accent may even be beneficial), but I would rather see him play Brian Braddock in an Excalibur movie. Not saying that it's gonna happen any time soon but, still, that's my preference :yay:

So basically we're like the teenage girl that wants the guy that ignores her. If he fell all over himself for her, she wouldn't be attracted to him. :o

Cumberbatch >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dempsey (ha). Quite frankly Benedict is in a whole different league.

I really like the idea of Benedict playing Strange.

Yep, plus they show Hulk roaring at the beginning of the circle shot which wasn't in the Superbowl spot.

My preference for Dr. Strange would be Adrian Brody. He has the right combination of looks, chops, and headlining ability.

Not quite, I'd say it's more like blatantly ignoring the person who is weirdly obsessed and eventually professed their undying love for you; even though they barely even know you on a personal level.

Most of these actors, in my opinion, get too caught up in the idea of being the big screen version of the superhero they like so much that they're blind to the fact they are completely wrong for the role. Ala Dempsey/Strange

I'm tired of people thinking Asgardian magic is "advanced science" it's not because Thor saying "they're one and the same" is just saying Asgardians use magic the same way we use science.

Besides, Loki was called the master of magic multiple times and Odin placing that enchantment on Mjolnir using only words wasn't "science" it was freakin' magic.

The David Tennant suggestions started when that pic from Fright Night was released. or at least that's the first time I noticed his name mentioned for Strange anyway.
