I'd say Doctor Doom can beat almost everybody, with preparation time and a master plan.

I don't know a story where Magneto beat Thor, but there was a story where Magneto fought all the Avengers at the same time (including Thor), and although Magneto was finally defeated, he gave them a good fight.

Hercules is Thor's equal, so he can surely beat him. So can Hulk.

Kurse is four times as strong as Thor is. Thor had no chance against him until Beta Ray Bill arrived. It took the combined power of two Thor-like warriors to defeat Kurse.

Crusader has beaten Thor, and in that story that win looked plausible (Crusader's power grows his confidence and his opponent's lack of confidence).

I know a lot of Thor stories and therefore a lot of Thor's powers and abilities. To me, Thor's defeats (there are not that much) don't look out of place.

Yes, physically, but thor has all of these other abilities, weather manipulation, god plast, stopping time, teleporting. I think this is where the whole, over-powered thing comes into effect. he has too much at his disposal. I mean there other other villians, and "non villians" much more powerful, but as a mainstream hero, I think that what people mean by him being over powered.

Pixar's The Incredibles: Edna: " NO CAPES!"

I would've like a scene with Thor sleveless, with cape and with helmet... just like classic 616.

Well since we know that all those elements of his costume exist in the film universe and we also know Whedon likes classic looks of the characters, I'd say our odds of at least seeing him at one point like that are pretty good. He obviously won't hold that look throughout the film but I'd be surprised if we didn't get at least one shot of him like that.

According to the prop replica guy at Wondercon, we won't see Thor's helmet in the avengers, maybe he's wrong, so I choose to ignore him. lol

Except for the helmet, I don't think it's gonna be in this film and to be honest I really don't care.

I don't really care either, It would be cool to see but I don't think its gonna happen, but that's ok I like seeing Thor's beautiful mane. hehe

Don't get me wrong, he looks great without the helmet, but I would like at least one shot with the classic 616. I don't care if he doesn't weat it in battle, just one shot

Right. It would be cool, I liked the brief helmet scene in Thor, but I love his hair too. :woot: So its really a tossup for me, cool if they do cool if they don't.

I wonder how many times does Banner Hulks-out. Action figures and trailers show us Hulk with beige pants. In the NY battle he's wearing jeans so that makes it two. Is there a pic of Banner wearing jeans? I've only seen the ones with him in a purple shirt

One last question on this topic, the helmet was supposed to strictly ceremonial in the movie anyway, right?

I think sleeveless Thor would look more bad-ass without a cape (wait, sleeveless Thor is capeless too right???)

Nah I think he looks more badass with the cape, it really makes him look more likea superhero.

Agreed, it would look like Ultimate Thor and I love his costume.

IMO Thor looks bad*** no matter what he's wearing. :)

iirc he wore a green variant in the Marvel vs DC miniseries

edit: no I was wrong
