"And there came a day, a day unlike any other, when Earth's mightiest heroes and heroines found themselves united against a common threat. On that day, the Avengers were born—to fight the foes no single super hero could withstand! Through the years, their roster has prospered, changing many times, but their glory has never been denied! Heed the call, then—for now, the Avengers Assemble!"

Assemble.

So, i've heard some complaints about the lack of " a cinematic look and feel" from some insiders that have taken a peek at early screenings and it hit me.
This is exactly what i've been feeling all along whenever i watched an Avengers trailer. I happen to be in the high-end Home Theater business and have been exposed to incredible video quality my whole life! I sold 42" plasmas when they cost $15k, projection systems from Runco at $50k, etc., which essentially means i know a bit about video quality. This is my main issue, The Avengers trailers do have, IMHO, a video/sopa opera look to them that to me, would be seriously detrimental to the overall realism and suspension of disbelief needed for the movie to go beyond expectations. To be seen as more than just a fan boy action flick, these are issues that matter, as evidenced by the ultra realism and subsequent success of the Dark Knight movies! The "cinematography" is a little to Disneyish for the taste of a broader audience and this would be necessary for the film to succeed like we fans want it to! Some fans simply don't get it when it comes to this kind of stuff, but a a Serenity look is the last thing i would have wanted for this movie. Take for instance the horrible movies of Twilight. They suck to me, but you have to give them credit for the chosen look of the movies, which allows for an extra 20-30% of income, by not focusing on gory crap, and instead, giving them a natural feel. This is probably the reason lots of mature women like them and acompany their daughters. Marvel seems to have been able to go this way with the Iron Man and Thor movies, which focused a lot on realism and plausibility and that included the look and feel of the movies, plus very good character development, (which is another thing altogether). I am crossing my fingers hard, that this is just the waythe initial trailers look. I think there's hope, when i see the Iron Man in the very violent and relistic scene, in which he's looking up and takes off to battle some flying things. And, i don't think Disney is to blame, The Pirates Of The Caribbean movies have great cinematography and costume development was taken to the max. Most certainly part of the reason for the major success. So, I'm going to disagree with the look for now and really hope that it's just the trailers. It will spoil the movie for me if it lacks cinematic view.

Finally, something to look forward to.

Finally? We've had an Avengers movie to look forward to since 2008.

Some folks on Facebook are pissing and moaning because they think that there have been too many trailers. One guy said that if Marvel shows any more of the movie there will be no reason to see it in theaters. :whatever:

@xeno000
No, I meant that I've been waiting so long for something to be released (just a pic at least) for my other anticipated film, TDKR - but nothing :(. But now, there's something The Avengers-related coming soon, so I'm happy now :).

What timezone did Apple use for the release of the first trailer?

When we have only seen all of 3 minutes of a 2.5 hour film, that has been chopped up to make a trailer mixed with title screens...it seems a bit too soon to claim a firm grasp of the cinematography.
Plus, is it really fair to compare these clips to the entire batman series? Maybe save these judgments until you have seen the movie.

Honestly I'm starting to think it was fake. I'll bite my tongue if its for real but I really doubt it.

I get what you're saying, but what I took from those 'criticisms' above all else?
"Doesn't even matter. The movie is that good. Ya get past it"
And I absolutely love everything I'm seeing in these trailers.
I just watched Serenity last night again.
STILL love it.
I too, hope it can be as cinematically visual spectacle as possible, but I'll gladly place the films content/story/heart at the forefront of my priorities.
Of course I speak wholeheartedly from a lifelong fan point of view, so certain (almost DEFINITE) bias comes into play.
So I'll just say again, I like what I'm seeing. My hopes have been elevated with the comments of the actual story being SOLID.
And I hope the General Public can embrace / be enamored by the movie and not be turned off by the supposed 'less than cinematic look' of the film.
Comic fans (myself included) are looking for the characters we grew up with.
Cinephiles are clamouring for the 'cinematic look'.
The average schmoe who has seen that SuperBowl spot, and is going, "whoa! This looks pretty cool! They're in this movie together...was That Hulk!? I've gotta see this!"
That's ultimately gonna be the most important group to win over in my estimation.
I think this movie can do it.

I am lookin forward to a new trailer to possibly learn something about the invaders but as RIM said Hulk fans will be disappointed I'm not overly excited.

Incorrect. There has only been one insider who has made this comment. All others (and there have been many) have been praising it without substantial criticism.

On top of that, the comment was a completely unsourced allegation from one website. The person who wrote that post didn't name the "insider" who complained about the movie or give any details to substantiate the criticism.

Also, we've had plausible statements that the so-called uncinematic picture aspect ratio is really a good thing for 3D conversion.

Not to mention the complainer said that the rest of the movie was so good it didn't matter.

Just as long as the movie has heart, and meaning behind the action, if the cinematic feel is somewhat weak, I could careless. Story/development can just be as impacting imo
