BvS The Batmobile Thread - Part 1

Thoughts on the new Batmobile?

  • Wow! The Batmobile I was hoping for and in my dreams.

  • Not bad. I need to see it in action.

  • Meh.

  • I prefer the last batmobile.

Looks like someone beat it with the ugly stick. Front wheels look ridiculous (not in a good way).

I think it looks more like the Forever-mobile and The Tumbler. I'm not seeing any kind of Burton-mobile influences, but it still looks amazing. I think I may like it more than The Tumbler, but I still think the Burton-mobile is my favorite.

It looks amazing, though. Really, really cool. I love it!

I actually agree with you more than my own original thought lol. Good call.

That overhead shot really makes it look freakin' huge!
Heh, well, it is pretty big. The side view of the person standing next to it gives you a good idea of how big it is. It's pretty long, and sits up pretty high. And form the top view, it looks pretty wide.

I actually think this is the all around biggest Batmobile we have got in live action.

That's what I'm wondering myself. It's hard to start comparing width and length without the discussion suddenly starting to sound very wrong. :hehe:

My sentiments. It's amazing how close to the maquette this final version is, but looks so much better at the same time. Not nuts about the method for the opening, but it may be like the tumbler where it's got the flip up doors for the real world stunt vehicle, but in-movie will be a different door system.

As long as its big enough and can keep up at a good speed, it'll satisfy a lot of people :)

Interesting, a non-fan has emerged ;) What do you think makes it ugly (other than the wheels) out of curiosity?

And I'm not knocking you for thinking it's ugly btw

I actually love it. It what the Tumbler should have evolved into frankly.

Looking great so far.

He's here to put doubt in our minds. Look at his name. :argh:

Another thing I think I like about this design: it feels purpose-built by Bruce specifically as a Batmobile. A lot of us had that issue with Nolan's Batman - that he didn't design anything, but only used preexisting items.

God it looks amazing... just absolutely amazing. It looks like its built for speed and built for toughness. Its not too bulky, and yet not too frail.

Its... Perfect.

Love the look of it. Functional but also stylised to a certain extent.

Those large sections on the back look like wings, from this angle anyway. Far be it for me to theorise, but if I was Batman, it would certainly make more sense to have a Batmobile that can double as a plane than to race back to the Batcave every time I had to make a flight.........

He doesn't have to race back to batcave, he should be able to call the batplane to him, it has GPS and autopilot.

As for wings, it crossed my mind too actually, but I don't think this thing could fly off, even if it could somehow detach from wheels.

I definitely think it's going to fly, but I don't think the wheels will detach, I think they'll kinda move inwards like the DeLorean in BTTF2.

It has? Didn't realise they'd built it already :D

All joking aside, if someone is about to blow up a factory on the far side of Gotham, they can't have Batman waiting 5 mins for the plane to make it's way out of the cave, fly to him and land in a populated zone.

The wheels wouldn't look right yeah, but I suspect if it does double as a plane then the wheels will reposition themselves to make it more streamlined. Other Batmobiles have done this so its not beyond the realms of possibility.

I'm probably totally wrong, but like I said it's just a theory. The 'cockpit', wings and various other appendages all look very aeronautical to me, but again it may just be sharp styling.

Aren't those things in the back a bit too small to act as wings for such a big vehicle though?

I really can't imagine this thing in the air, but we'll see.

Heh, it's a movie, it doesn't have to actually fly.

I would wager the fins are there for stylization and perhaps to make the vehicle itself a bit more aerodynamic.

I'd bet my left leg this thing doesn't fly.

Good point, just one thing though - it doesn't have to land, Batman has grapple hook. :cwink:

Well, it's not just the matter of wheels being more streamlined, but of their weight, they are certainly quite heavy.

And it definitely does look very aeronautical, I can imagine that Batman either based the design on some military aircraft or even took some parts from one, like the cockpit and those fins.
