I would wager the fins are there for stylization and perhaps to make the vehicle itself a bit more aerodynamic.

I'd bet my left leg this thing doesn't fly.

I'm in agreement it doesn't fly. Maybe the fins/spoilers are ailerons that move in accordance to the speeds and performance relevant to the vehicle - like some race cars or the swing wings on the Tomcat or Tornado fighters.

Even the Tumbler had ailerons like that when it would go into "bridging mode".

Although I like the way the doors open on this thing I hope they don't make it impossible for Batman to leap off a skyscraper and land in the drivers seat. I need it to happen.

Also I actually don't hope this transforms into the Batwing. I want that to be a separate thing we can see hanging in the cave and also something with a little more mass to it.

Also I want Batman to eject from the Batwing and, you guessed it, land in the Batmobile drivers seat and continue the chase street level, so the doors really shouldn't be getting in the way.

Or, eject from the batmobile and enter the Batwing from the bottom... so again, those damn doors... my point is they need to be separate things and those doors better get with the program.

I'd like that visual more than some transformation into the Batwing I believe.

But amazing design.

Well, it's not just the matter of wheels being more streamlined, but of their weight, they are certainly quite heavy.

And it definitely does look very aeronautical, I can imagine that Batman either based the design on some military aircraft or even took some parts from one, like the cockpit and those fins.

Did this for fun, it's a very cheap and nasty photoshop just to imagine it did fly.

Back wheels retracted in. Front wheels turn flat (a la BTTF Deloran) and go under the car. Wings extend.

Looks like it's a basic aluminum frame to drive around to do interior shots as if your in the driver's seat. They might, if possible, CGI the entire Batmobile over this for stunt shots as well.

I agree with the skin idea. Also that large flip plate in the front looks well used. Perhaps thats what happened to that wrecked Challenger we saw a few days ago.

I'm curious how the rear fins will move (I'm assuming they move given the hydraulics attached to them). Also, this batmobile vs Superman would be a wonderful thing to watch

Unless this thing has Kryptonite exhaust - Superman would simply pick it up and toss it like a baseball.
