My own manip but same image. Still working on it. The cape is going to be a pain. Hopefully I could snatch it from a TDk promotional image. And I'm still wondering how I should do the neck piece.

What's awesome about this is that it reminds me of the last issue of Justice League. Bruce takes off the cape and cowl and the bat symbol in the middle of a city(can't remember which) turned into war zone by Darkseid.

The is great so far.

The only things I'd change are getting rid of all the "stripes" on his torso (and by that I'd mean I'd just have the whole thing come down like a regular shirt) and finding a way to incorporate a larger bat on his chest.

I thought of it but the torso would look very plain and boring w/out some of the designs on the torso. I'm planning to post several versions, all with a different emblem.

It looks great!

thanks. I feel the same. In Batman Begins there was never any reason for the belt being yellow, he took the time to paint the entire suit black but not the belt?. Not that there has to be a reason, and it did'nt look bad. I just feel if someone were actually to do an ultra realistic Bat film there might not be a yellow belt.

I agree. I never understood why Batman, a character described as a "creature of the night", would make his utility belt yellow. It just doesn't make as much sense as a brown or black belt from a character perspective. It's not like he needs to be colorful.

Yeah, you're right, it probably would. I realized that not too long after I posted. I think a good way to give the design a little more "oomph" would be to have the top half be decorated with two different shades of gray. But I'm not sure how that would look.

Can't wait to see them. That's an awesome manip you made, dude, and I can't wait to see how you play with it.

The cape was a big pain in the ass. I couldn't find a decent one so I had to create it myself. I forgot to add the spikes but I'm lazy to add them. I'll include it in the other versions that I'll post later on.

I've never considered a dark brown belt before. Now I'm curious to see what that would look like.

I think it would be a better utility belt color choice for a Batsuit with trunks than the traditional yellow/gold color.

For a trunkless Batsuit, I'd use a black belt.

black belt is too boring. you need some color in there to break up the monotony

After seeing some of these manips, I'm hoping even more that the next guy directing a Batman film goes this route.

We're talking about Batman. His costume is designed to intimidate his enemies and hide in the shadows, so I don't think he needs to be colorful.

Actually, I think Bill Finger designed Batman's costume to look impressive to his audience. This should remain the primary concern.

Every costumed character is designed to look impressive to his or her audience, and there are many ways to do that.
Bill Finger and Bob Kane intended Batman to be a frightening figure, and the same applies to Bruce Wayne in-universe. I think that a darker, less colorful Batsuit highlights this best.
Plus, the yellow utility belt never looked very impressive to me. It just looks odd and out of place to me.

A darker shade, yes. But completely changing the colors? No, just no! Like I said before I absolutely hate the Schumacher Batsuits because of this, especially the first B&R suit. Poor Batman, let him look the way he's supposed to look. They made Superman's suit look believable for the character without completely changing his look (unlike poor Batman). Same with Spiderman. If the belt & suit are a darker shade (but not black) then you wouldn't notice the color difference in the dark.

Look at my manip above. Batman would look completely black in the dark.

I never said I wanted Batman to be all-black. I want Batman to wear black and charcoal gray, with the minimalist black bat, no trunks, and a black belt, or trunks and brown (maybe gold) belt.

I was talking about his entire look in general. Hence I didn't quote you. ONLY changing the belt to black wouldn't be a deal breaker. That's if his suit is a different color/shade. IMO a darker shade of gold or yellow would be ideal. Under the light Batman would have the comic accurate look and colors but when he's in the dark he would look like a giant, black bat.

Oh, sorry. I'd still prefer a brown utility belt, or black if the Batsuit is trunkless.

Love the caped version! Amazing work.

Would you try putting trunks on there, just for the hell of it? The way the shadow falls is evocative of them anyway.

I like it better without the briefs. And I prefer a yellow/gold/copper belt.

I think the black belt looks great on the manip. Earlier today I read pdf versions of Detective Comics 27 - 36 and noticed he had a black belt in some of the issues. Plus a number of people were saying how Batman should have a black belt so I decided to do that. But I'm with you, I like it better w/out the panties and with a yellowish belt.
