You were saying?

Yikes, whoever put that thing on its display seriously effed up.

I dunno about you guys, but that's clearly a Blue and Red suit.

I was merely pointing out during certain scenes it was lit in a way that gave the effect of a gray body draped in all-black. I'm well aware of their actual hue.

You were saying?

Nolan suits are a charcoal color. This was obvious when looking at the capes, which were black.

Ah ha, you almost had me there boys. For a second there I thought you were being serious. I mean who actually thinks these things are meant to look gray. You’d have to be an idi… oh.

Hey check it out…

… the Begins suit looks gray just like the Dead End suit.

Batman’s outfit is the blue just like Kane’s sweater…

… just like Neal frigg’n Adams after all. And all this time we thought it was a black suit.

Whoa, Batman’s cape is brown:

… you know, more like a real bat.

Wait…

… it’s silver :(

In certain scenes the moon…

… is lit in a way that gave the effect of it not being moon color.

Now if you don’t mind fellas I’m going to leave this benighted donkey conversation to the pair three of you.

This is legitimately a color debate I cannot believe we are having. The Nolan suits were black. All black. That light reflected differently off different textures is no technicalilty.

There is no gray area in this debate.

By the way, since we're back into a color conversation again. I have taken a closer look at the Snyder photo of the batsuit now that I had some free time to take a better look at it. It does indeed look like lighting plays part in making the thumb knuckle appear bronze. I was not the only one who saw the hint of bronze on that damn knuckle so don't shoot me for it like some did. But it's probably all black as I always thought and hoped for as well, like on the statue.

The Batman bit from the trailer for BvS is better than that.

What has happened to this thread? Was there too much general agreement and happy celebration from everyone about the suit being incredible deemed as a problem? Were there secret crisis talks held in a closed thread I wasn't privy to where conflicts were manufactured to keep the thread chugging along until next March?

No, Nolan's Batman Begins suit is black, but it's a matte black which means it isn't glossy and doesn't shine like the Returns and Forever suits did. It's a dull black, whereas the gauntlets, boots, batsymbol have a little more shine to them, which makes them look darker.

Love how mean Bale looks in that promo pic. But yeah, the gloves were also my biggest pet peeve with that suit, though a minor nitpick. The big panther neck I thought was one of the coolest aspects of the suit, added to the beastly appearance. I don't think it really ever got scrunched up in the movie like that, at least not that I noticed.

I dunno, I honestly like all the movie Bat-suits except Clooney's suits and the Forever sonar suit. I spent my Halloweens as a kid in black (plastic) armor, not grey spandex. Will always have a soft spot for the style of Bat-suits that Burton ushered in. :woot:

But Batfleck's suit is definitely a thing a beauty, bronze knuckles or not. I think it's fitting that the first time we get a comics accurate suit coincides with the first time we see the larger DCU represented on screen. It's definitely a convenient way to clearly separate this from the past, right away.

All I did was voice my opinion on what would make the the BVS suit more appealing to me and then BOOM..the madness began. I'm just glad that I didn't mention the ear length.

Not in the mood.

They are meant to be black. Anyone who has watched the special features for Batman Begins knows that. The limitations of foam latex construction meant that they could not get the mix a deep black that matched the cape without reducing its durability too much.

Black velvet(ish material) will always absorb more light than black rubber. The rubber's still black.

Also, in the film itself - begins at any rate, it's lit/graded in a way that appears much more black than all these pics people are posting, which aren't from the movie.

If you look at actual screencaps, and not photos of it on display UNDER SPOTLIGHTS - it's pretty damn black.

I'll take the sonar suit over Nolan's jigsaw suit any day of the week. I might be biased though because i loved BF as a kid.

I liked the shiny gloves in BB. I thought they looked cool in those hands preparing the gadgets close ups. Yes, this is probably the most obsessively banal post I've ever made on the internet.

Theres something special about this thread. It's reached a new level of internet geek care and attention - a level approaching pure spiritual love. Holy men, monks, spiritual people, notice and honor small details - a flower petal in the air, a raindrop, a brass knuckle on a batsuit. This is nirvana level. I expect some of us have perfectly round smooth bodies just like Buddha.
