The dream/vision sequence was done in MoS and would feel like a retread. Never a fan of them in the first place.

I'm hoping it's some sort of "Son of Batman" impersonator/follower. After all the backlash Snyder got for Superman breaking necks no way Snyder could be that much of a troll with that? I hope.

I can't think of any sensible reason he would suit up as Red Son Batman in this movie. There are some definite mind shenanigans going on here.

Occam's Razor say's it's Batman in an alternate costume for some reason - probably just, in film-making terms, to look cool.

All these other theories people are pulling out of thin air (and using the word "probably") are just reaching.

Maybe it's because it gets cold in the desert. Maybe it's because a cape is a huge hassle in a windy environment.

Occam'so Razor would have also said Superman wore a black supersuit for some reason, and he did... because it was a dream. I really don't think that sequence takes place in the real world, but in some dream realm. There's also a question of why would Superman just let Lex Luthor stand over him acting all lordly while he kneels before him. Either that's not Superman, or there's some kind of mind control at play.

He wears it because it's cool. Because it conveys the fact that this is a post apocalyptic world.

It's not obvious as such but that seems the most logical thing right now. Until we hear for sure or see the film it's still up for speculation.

Superman goes to confront these guys at their base...the scene where he's walking down the hall and they bow...finds Luthor...he springs kryptonite on him...the scene with him kneeling....Superman is locked away to die.
Batman comes calling....yes the cape isn't practical in a windy sand environment. Yes Bedouin people wear long robes but they are close to the body....Batman's cape would not be...hence the trench coat...it's not outside the realm of possibility that Batman has different suits for different environments

Quite vindicating, to see that they've included Robin. Hopefully there's a flashback where he actually appears.

I have a feeling that the costume just appears to have shorts because that's just the solid piece armour portions of the suit that's hanging with the cape and it's just a visual nod to the classic suit.

When we actually see Robin he'll probably have fabric pants or something akin to that.

It looks like the legs may be folded up and places underneath of the bodysuit.
