Just seems odd he'd oppose the neck snap and then be cool with it, but the trunks would be a no-go for him.

I've always gotten the impression Nolan doesn't actually like superheroes or superhero movies. Hence his 'realistic' take on Bats and Supes. I think he tries to distance his work in the genre from the staple tropes of it whenever he can, undies on the outside included.

Ironically, I feel like Zack wants to meet the desires of fanboys more than Goyer OR Nolan. Before MOS, how many of us were crying for good action?

Hopefully, he'll listen to SOME complaints about MOS.

The impression I've gotten is that he doesn't care much for superheroes. At least not like how his brother does. I've always felt if he grew up on the comics or shows, his films would've turned out different. But, then you hear he's a big fan of Bay films and it's something his brother doesn't understand. :hehe:

^ I like Nolan's movies, but I don't want him having anything to do with WW.
And Goyer struggled with Superman, IMHO, so I think it'd be even tougher to come up with a good script for WW.

Sorry, but you have no idea what you're talking about. The "article" you posted as your reference doesn't even support your theory that Nolan was the one to force some sort of "no trunks" policy on Snyder.

Here's the actual quote from Snyder: “The costume was a big deal for me, and we played around for a long time,” said Snyder. “I tried like crazy to keep the red briefs on him. Everyone else said, ‘You can’t have the briefs on him.’ I looked at probably 1,500 versions of the costumes with the briefs on.”

That "everyone else" most likely refers to all the like-minded folks on the project with him who felt the trunks didn't work. He gave the trunks a shot, looked at a bunch of options, and then scrapped the idea...and they came up with an incredible suit that I'm sure Snyder is extremely proud of.

Then, 2 paragraphs later, the writer of this "Mary Sue" article completely changes the subject and brings up Christopher Nolan's involvement: 'With Christopher Nolan acting as producer on the project, you can guess there’ll be at least a little Dark Knight flavor. “There’s a logic and concreteness that has to exist with Chris,” said Snyder. “You can’t just do stuff because it’s cool. He demands that there be story and character behind all of it, which I’m a big fan of.” '

Snyder is obviously referring the the realistic tone of the overall film, which dealt with the real-world implications of the first signs of alien life. The whole film wound up having a bit of a "Nolan" edge. None of that has anything to do with Superman's trunks, so I'm not sure how you were able to link the trunks to Chris Nolan... A simple Google search led me to another article with the same quotes that doesn't jumble them up and actually makes sense -- http://io9.com/5963171/zack-snyder-...ged-supermans-iconic-costume-for-man-of-steel

Snyder absolutely COULD'VE given Superman trunks...if he thought it was the best design to go with. He clearly didn't. Case closed.

I believe the button engaged a cooling device, which allowed him to survive the heat.......

Just wondering.........one aspect of super-heroes is their quick response to danger, where ever and when ever it appears, that usually involves a quick "suit-up".....the classic shirt rip.
That being said is Batman now exempt from the possibility of the quick change, due to the nature of the suits being discussed here.

I always thought Batman is exempt from that rule. He isn't someone that runs around in public all of the time, and jumps into his tights when he comes across a mugging. As Bruce Wayne, he runs a company, attends business meetings, eats out in fancy restaurants, has dates with hot models, etc. And once the sun sets, he is pretty much Batman for the rest of the night.

But he has suits around if he needs to dress up during the day, if really something happens. I always assume he has a suit stashed in the trunk of his car, hidden room in his office, maybe in his suitcase.

What is with people's absolute insistence on NOT accepting the explanations given?

Snyder MUST have been lying, and Nolan MUST have been insisting on no trunks.

It was something that was joked about here when the Snyder and Nolan were first announced...all the blame would go to Snyder all the praise would go to Nolan.

    Sort of my thought also,.....

But by mixing him with other heroes who are capable of the quick change....will they have to wait for Bruce while he's getting changed?:)

I assume they would have to wait for him anyway. He doesn't seem to hang out with other heroes, unless they already meet up in costume, or he has lunch with someone like Clark. And if he does need to quick change, he always has Clark to help him. :D

Batman uses his extensive real estate portfolio to his advantage. There are a number of mini "Batcaves" hidden in Wayne Tower, and in bunkers throughout Gotham. I suppose these give him a reasonably short response time. He I don't think he has ever worn a Batsuit under his business suit, though.

If they want to go both the traditional route and with the idea that there is some more than normal layer of protection for Bruce...texture and material like this will probably be the way they go.

Whats up everyone? Long time lurker here lol I used to have an account and made one post but never got the chance to keep posting really. Just wanted to give my two cents on the batsuit. First off I've watched every incarnation of Batman there is. You could say im a die hard fanatic. I am by no means a pro at costume design but I do alot of sketch work and stuff like that. Been drawing batman since i was a kid and in all different styles...blah blah blah like long walks on the beach lol anyways....Here's a small take as to what i would think would be the ideal batsuit for Ben. It's a combination of the begins suit and the new 52. The ears are about the length of the burton film cowls. The cape and the rest are not finished but you can get an idea of what i'd like to see. The colors of the suit are something i still feel should be black. Not just because of style but because of stealthiness (if thats a word). I always felt the batsuit should be black, but i am not opposed to seeing a nice gray and black combo on screen either. It worked (sort-of) for Batman: Dead End....and the porn parody certainly did their homework and made a pretty sick batsuit. Long ears or not. So i think batman should get something like this. Please, before anyone says its too bulky and he wont be able to move like a gymnast, the idea here is there is a cloth on it. Drawing it was tough so i left the armor side of it. I always liked the idea of putting some type of cloth over most of the suit and spraying a type of chemical that causes it to suck onto the suit and hardening somewhat at the same time. The moveable parts of the body stay free but with some protection from the "attack resistant" cloth. The neck doesnt need to be so busy like the nolan films. I believe it can stay one piece by just finding the right material to make it moveable. (hollywood magic or practical material). Anyways the drawing isnt done, i'll probably screw around with it more. LMK what you guys think.

(PS i am hosting my images on flickr, not sure if i posted them correctly. If i didnt, could someone help me out as to how to post them the right way. Thanks!)

It's perfect (in the first pic) :wow:
The suit looks kinda cheap in the other pics. But yeah, int the first one it looks really cool. I'd only change the shiny silver stuff. And the nose piece should cover the whole nose, imo.

In my 50 + years as a a Bat-fan I can't recall a single incident where he has worn a suit under his civilian garb (at least not on a regular basis, maybe for a special situation where he expected trouble, but not as a habit), it's always as you say, he has a spare suit stashed nearby, in his car, in his offices, in any one of his many real estate holdings in town, etc.
