The BATSUIT Thread

Why even bother having this thread if all we’re doing is just refusing to consider the possibility that new info from semi reliable sources, including former employees of the trade, might actually be legit?

Maybe these tweets aren’t accurate. Okay, whatever. We will probably know for sure either way in a few weeks’ time!

I’d rather spend that time talking about the possibility of the costume being Bermejo-inspired or Earth One-inspired/whatever-inspired than just looking at more “traditional” comic depictions of the suit in art styles closer to various forms of animation that couldn’t ever truly be recreated on the big screen in a serious manner in a live action media.

Because I'm low-key married to the idea of a blue and gray suit and I'm not being reasonable towards anything else.

Okay, cool! I want to see a blue/gray Batsuit in live action too and I don’t see how a Bermejo or Earth One inspired costume couldn’t necessarily also be blue-gray!

The big difference between how Bermejo draws his comics compared to most other artists at DC is that he leans far closer to a realist visual style than one akin to manga or animation. As a result, his costumes and designs might look a bit grotesque on paper compared to something like Jim Lee’s work in Hush, but it’s much closer to what you will see from Hollywood concept artists working at WB right now on The Batman.

Also @FatRobin , I’m pretty sure that Emre meant that the suit would be Black/Gray, not all Black. I’ve heard similar rumors elsewhere for a few weeks now and wasn’t sure how legit any of it might be until the ex-Variety writer spoke up and made the same basic comparison to Bermejo.

Vullein is basically a scooper disciple of DanielRPK and Thomas Polito. He's gotten some stuff right, some wrong. But the Kris Tapley thing makes me thinl the suit is indeed Bermejo inspired (thank god)

Yep, the Kris Tapley part of all of this adds more validity to it than the usual lot of rumors. How far into specific details of the suit (Rebirth emblem, etc) this rumor holds up though remains to be seen.

The Bermejo aesthetic juxtaposed with Pattinson's slimmer physique could be interesting. Bermejo usually draws a stockier Batman.

I don’t hate the idea of another all black suit.
Speaking as a Keaton fan, me neither. Having said that, I would go total fanboy over a blue and gray outfit being portrayed in live-action for the first time. I'd very much like to see that.

Also, I always felt like Nolan should have gone with more of a Bermejo look given his more "realistic" take on Batman. So if Reeves is opted for a similar grounded feel, this doesn't strike me as entirely surprising.

I had previously speculated that they wouldn't give us a picture until they started doing location shooting, but people pointed out that the Bale and Affleck reveals were done early on in production when they were doing stage work.

I will hedge my bets and say sometime in Q1 (January-March).

No short bat ears again please. I'll take the nipples back on the suit before the short ears.

12 days is my guess.

Another plated, tactical Batsuit. Never seen that before :o

That’s because it actually looks good on the big screen! :cwink:

Also since it’s already spilling over on Twitter again, the validity of the rumor is once again up in the air! Either way, it was a semi pleasant change of pace for the past 24 or so hours!

I don't know how connected he is.

This dude is so well-connected to Matt Reeves that he knows about the latter's deep prejudice towards stubble.

I know this guy is dubious, but damn it I hope everything he's saying is true.

I hope the costume has the highly praised Armie Hammer suit characteristics such as locks, springs, auto-clasps, hissing-like clicks and bolts like a very mechanical or mechanized suit. It would give more armor to the character. Apparently WETA hit out of the park on the Mortal suit; that would be great to see on screen

Nah, the guy’s made accurate scoops before on other projects. He just shares what he hears is all, though he could benefit from being a bit more clear on what’s up in the air/just a rumor and what he’s hearing that has more weighted evidence supporting it. At least he’s being somewhat transparent here though.

It sure does!

And a Batsuit in vein of this wouldn't be any better

Why must Batman be militarized? He's a ninja in the purest sense of the word, he should be sleek and aerodynamic. He doesn't have to look like a rejected patent for the US military (which Begins quite literally was)

Bermejo's suit wouldn't look right on Pattinson's slim frame. A suit that suits a sleeker body type is what I hope they go for
