The BATSUIT Thread

My prediction: black and grey, very tactical/militaristic.

Leaning towards this too, though I certainly wouldn’t complain if we got a blue/gray Batsuit instead.

But given the seemingly gritty look of Gotham and Bruce in the set photos so far, I’m anticipating a suit closer to Zero Year, Earth One or Bermejo than a cleaner looking design like we’ve been seeing from the Datrini fanart.

I think it’ll be a better version of the Nolan suit. Boring compared to Affleck’s (DOJ), but better than both of Bale’s.

That’s all subjective though. As someone who actually never had a problem with Affleck being cast as Batman, I actually remember being super bummed out when I saw the first official Batfleck picture. Obviously I was the odd man out there, but I still maintain that the Begins suit was far superior, even if it wasn’t as comic accurate.

I mean I wasn’t pumped about the Affleck casting, I wasn’t bummed out by the picture of him either. Not excited either.

In retrospect, fan boys have totally overrated his performance online. And I really think it has to do strictly with the comic accuracy of finally getting the black and grey adapting TDKR look.

He’s like to me, easily, the most overrated Batman performance of all time. And it’s gotten worse in the years since. Besides a few intense gazes from him as Bruce Wayne in BVS, he gave a dull, lifeless, energy less, depressed performance. And those intense eyes as Bruce Wayne in select scenes never translated to him while in the suit.

Like that scene where he has the Martha meltdown, is so comically funny. It easily trumps any of the very few times they’ll sounded weird while out of breath trying to do his Batman growl. That scene will go down as the most cringe worthy, yet trying to be serious scene for a Batman, of all time. It is now the most iconic laughed about moment in the characters serious on screen history.

But I still think both Burton suits, and all of the Nolans suits are better than what we got in DOJ and way better than the nonsense with the night owl ears plus more rigid cowl we got in justice league. With those stupid sunglasses on the tactical suit.

Both Nolan suits look plausible and believable. And people can talk all the stuff they want, Batman on screen so far has looked most believable and menacing in all flat black. The 89 suit, the Begins suit, and TDK suit.

He looks so puffy with dramatically fake borderline Schumacher levels of homoerotic musculature. When we’re supposed to believe it’s a Kevlar fabric material. And that’s his physique underneath? When looking at him he’s fat. To the point they have to CGI his anatomy in his shirtless scenes.

Neeess to say this is the most pumped I’ve been for a suit reveal since Batman Begjns. Then again I’m not a huge crossover fan. I’ve always been more pumped for the standalone films, particularly for Batman. I want him and his world to be the focus, and the focus alone.

You know who didn't need a stunt double?

Nuh-uh. Affleck is the best Batman because his stunt double choreographed a cool fight scene.

Or that LOL my other point.

I didn’t even get to mention that.

One bad ass action scene, apparently to some, plus an accurate black and gray suit makes him the best Batman / Bruce Wayne.

Even though performance wise he clearly ranks behind 1a) Bale 1b) Keaton

Here’s a quick mock-up I did of my ideas on my Ipad’s Sketches App.

It based mostly off of a mix of Bermejo, Zero Year, and the Arkham games.

It’s 2D and two broad and thick for what I wanted (I was hoping for something more lean) but I accidentally made him a gorilla.

God, shots like that remind why the Begins cowl is still my favourite. Medium to long ears are a must for me. Leave the short ears in the past with Affleck.

Totally agree. I think the mask looks awkward with just short nubs. Too human like. And way less demonic or intimidating.

I like it!

Unfortunately I have a feeling we might see short-ish ears again. Hopefully I'm wrong, but it's been a suspicion I've had lately. For now I'm hoping the ears are at least similar to the ones we saw in Begins. A bit shorter than the ears from the Burton/Schumacher era Batsuits, but still prominent enough to create a silhouette.

Yea ...

BvS / JL - Stubs
TDKT - Medium
89, BR, Forever, BnR - Long

I prefer medium to long. You’ve got to have something to create the classic Bat silhouette. It looks way more menacing. And like somebody outside, the short little nubs look like cat man ears

With regards to the ears, do you guys prefer it pointing forward, backward, or upward? Part of me wants to see the ears pointing backwards because we do not have that version yet.

Very 90s extreme. The NECA comic book Batman figure looks like that

Definitely upward.

Short ears make him look more like Catman instead of Batman.

I really don’t mind the short ears.
Something like this would definitely be my preference though

Either upward like the Burton suits or forward like the Nolan suits. While swept backwards looks great in animation like BTAS, I don't think they look right in 3 dimensions like the Justice League cowls showed:

Eww.... Shudder.
Looked like Owlman instead of Batman.

Give me owlman over your chubby hockey pants wearing dark knight. Nolan can keep his bs realism. One of the worst decisions of Nolan was to leave the BB suit behind.

And for all the hate that Batfleck choreography gets, we at least got a good one with a stuntman at least.

I think these Affleck ears look bad because they are short. A backward pointing ear should be long for emphasis, or else it risks looking like this one.

I think a bit bigger ears would've made the batfleck suit almost perfect. Damn shame it also changed in JL.

I’m pretty sure it’s hand gun fire from the dude who gets punched second. Either way, who cares? It’s a quick snippet on the outskirts of the screen during that quick action scene. This small snippet of a scene isn’t what defines the movies quality. Fuhk outta here. Lol

You can make all the excuses you want for Nolan's lackluster Batman fights. A master of set pieces no doubt, but I've never been more letdown. TIll this day I can't rewatch Rises. And before you try to come at me like I'm some kind of Nolan/Bale hater, I still consider Dark Knight to be the greatest comicbook film.

And to this day I can't look at the Batfleck suit without feeling disappointed! The costume all around just didn't look good IMO, no matter how comic accurate it was. We all have our own tastes and opinions on how Batman should look on the big screen.
