The BATSUIT Thread

Hmmm....

I doubt there's going to be any noticeable blue in it.

Also, it seems the rumors of an updated Adam West suit were absolutely true. The rumors that the suit were a mix of blues, blacks and grays came with that same rumor. So it’s very possible the suit colors are blue, black and gray.
They should release a proper photo before it hits the streets. I don’t want to see the colour and the ears from somebody’s phone. Blue on the cowl or cape would be cool.

I don’t get why the fiercely psychotic Snyder extremists, and Ben Affleck stans feel so jilted right now?

To the point that they keep slandering Robert Pattinson or Matt Reeves?

Like dude Batman versus Superman is underrated, yes but it wasn’t TDK trilogy, it wasn’t the MCU and it isn’t the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Ben Affleck was surprisingly decent in Batman versus Superman.

But was atrocious otherwise. That doesn’t make him the “one true Batman”.

Yes, the coloring on his costume, as well as the design was most faithful to a literal translation.

Yes, he had an amazing action sequence that is the only thing people reference in regards to Ben Affleck’s take on the character, and it wasn’t even him LOL ... that as well doesn’t make him the best Batman on screen ever.

Neither does his wig he wore asBruce Wayne LOL

Or his ripped 300 style shredded CGI’ed muscles ...

But seriously, why the salt and the put downs for Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves? Before we’ve seen anything no less?

Ben Affleck began to disassociate from the character the second bad reviews of Batman versus Superman started to come in. And it only perpetuated there forward, and all he did was lie and string along the audience until he could finally commit to leaving publicly.

But why are you guys mad tho?

Justice League came out in November 2017. Much like Snyder himself, you guys simply can’t move on LOL a long while ago

Let it go ...

If you’re a fan of the character first, what we have to look forward to is probably the best thing for us. And the general audience.
Damn. You pretty much nailed it. Every single thing.

Snyderbots are delusional

There is no "one true Batman", just as there isn't "one true Joker" or any other comic character. Heath Ledger was phenomenal as The Joker, but that doesn't mean no one else was ever allowed to play it ever again.

Batman has been around since 1939, and has gone through as many variations on the page as he has onscreen. Different movie Batmans can validly exist without taking anything away from each other.

And in my $.02, while Batfleck may have technically been the most comic accurate Batsuit yet on a physical level, the rest of his material---the actual more important stuff like story and characterization--- was far too lacking and haphazard for him to be any kind of definitive "one true Batman".

And as a final note, I'd just add that Batfleck not coming back isn't any fault of Matt Reeves or Robert Pattinson, so trashing them for it doesn't make any sense. Maybe blame the movies Batfleck was in for not being better.

EXACTLY. Great visual representation of Batman and Ben's acting was good. Horrible in everything else.

Disagree about your thoughts on "Batman V Superman," but I also disagree with who's trashing this new version just because it's not the previous one.

The pants must look great. Can't have an only good looking upper body.

Huh?

How have they not nailed the eyes of the cowl so far?
Every Batman we've had has needed the panda makeup. Surely there must be a way of making it look better with prosthetics or something.

Edit: I'm not saying that what we've had so far is bad, just that they could have been better

Fan Reponse:

Step 1: beg for video and/or photo of costume

Step 2: finally receive a video and/or photo

Step 3: complain about some element of the costume and compare it to a previous version that they previously hated but all of the sudden love

Step 4: see the first trailer and decide that the costume doesn't look as bad as they originally thought

Step 5: see the film and enjoy the look

Step 6: repeat steps 1-5 when the inevitable sequel comes out

This always happens with virtually every Batman movie. I remember when Batman Begins was filming and the first image of Batman was released. Everyone called him "Fatman", then The Dark Knight was filming, everyone complained that Batman looked too robotic with the exoskeleton design, then Affleck's design comes along and people complained about how rough around the edges he appeared--as if the entire design wasn't based off of Frank Miller.

I personally love Reeve's design. So far, it matches what has been said about this being a neo noir detective story. It looks handmade and unique, but still looks like Batman.

FWIW I was here in 2014 and fan response to the Batfleck suit was overwhelmingly positive. Arguably the most positive response of any suit reveal I've ever seen. You had some who didn't like it but those were the outliers.

Anyone else hoping we’ll get some full body paparazzi shots of the batsuit in the next 48hrs?

He was good in Batman versus Superman, yes. He’s overrated by Snyder extremists because of:

a) one action scene (with minimal emotional investment and wasn’t even him)

b) the most literal translation of a Bat suit.

That’s literally it.

He’s not a bad actor, he’s good, but he certainly not great. Michael Keaton, and Christian Bale are great actors. There’s a difference. Generational defining actors.

If I broke down actual performance per movie the top five would legit be:

1) Bale in Begins
2) Keaton in 89
3) Bale in TDK
4) Bale in Rises
5) Affleck in BvS

HM: 6) Keaton in Returns

And then his very next performance is among the worst in the series right next to George Clooney. Just below Val Kilmer’s boring, wooden, Xanax Batman.

To act like he’s been the best Batman or Bruce Wayne in the series is literally stupid.

Just for the sheer fact he has minimal screen time in his best movie performance as the character in BvS.

Bale carried the vast majority of a whole movie by himself in Begins. And really the foundation of a critically acclaimed trilogy.

Keaton provided the dramatic weight and nuance to compete with a living legend like Jack Nicholson‘s performance as Joker in B89.

And Christian Bale was underrated as the foundation for a dynamic legendary performance from Heath Ledger to bounce off of in TDK.

Affleck was a casting met with meh possibilities and over delivered but still is only the best actor and performance in a movie full of average AT BEST actors and performances in BvS.

The scary prospect is, Robert Pattinson, especially after I viewed his film catalog post the twilight series, and given he’s such a fan of the character.

He combines like the best elements of Michael Keaton and Christian Bale. I legitimately feel like he’s poised to become the best version of the character on screen. And that isn’t hyperbole.

I'm betting the ears look like that haha
I sincerely hope the cowl and ears look like this ...

Based on that quick blurry intro to the Matt Reeves video test shot. He definitely doesn’t have short ears. You can kind of make out the silhouette that the ears are longer. Or at the very least medium length. Which is awesome.

The short ears to me have always been not very appealing. The silhouette doesn’t look intimidating and it looks more like a cat or in JL’s case ... an owl.

For some reason this "recolored" version has me warming up a bit better to the suit.

But I have to say the nose is worrying me. Looks like they've gone for this weird three-sided shape. It's squared and flat at the front, but it retains the pointy profile.

Head-on, that is potentially going to look really strange. Adam West is the only popular iteration I know of who had this sort of styling on the cowl. And it didn't look appealing there at all.

I'm praying for the long ears to accentuate the aggressive features a bit more.
