There's always kind of a sticking point on which origin to choose, since the various post-Crisis reboots have all been fairly different from each other, and it seems that most people can't enjoy one without hating the others (this is mainly between the Man of Steel and Birthright camps) I'd say read them both (as well as Secret Origin when it comes out), and figure out which one you like on your own.

Aside from the ones already listed (though I can't overstate how much I love All-Star Superman), I'd also go with:

Red Son
Speeding Bullets
Godfall
Superman/Batman: Public Enemies
Lex Luthor: Man of Steel
