The Best Spin-Offs ever?

I didn't know that Family Matters was a spin-off. I just looked that up on wikipedia.

Yeah, wasn't Harriet a character on Perfect Strangers first?

That's what it said. I'll have to go and see if their is anything on YouTube

Alright, I watched the intro to Perfect Strangers and I remember the show a little. Didn't know that it's spin-off was Family Matters.

Angel is superior to buffy
frasier is superior to cheers
Different world is superior to the cosby show

She was the elevator operator at the newspaper Larry worked at.

No one else thinks the Simpsons is one of the best?

What did the Simpsons spin off of?

The Tracy Ullman Show

Harriet originally worked at that Chicago news paper place
with Balky & Larry but that wasn't until a few seasons into the series. I never would have thought that they would create a whole new series around her character though. Family Matters could have stood on its own without it ever being known that it was a spin-off series.

Another good spin-off series that I liked was Just The 10 Of Us which is a spin-off of Growing Pains.

See, I had no idea that Just the Ten of Us was a spin-off of Growing Pains, even though I liked both shows growing up. What's the connection there?

You'd be surprised what they can make a spin-off from. Good Times is a spin-off of Maude (Florida Evans was Maude's maid).

Interesting note. Maude was a spin-off of All in the Family (Maude was Edith Bunker's cousin). That officially makes Good Times a spin-off of a spin-off.

Wasn't the Jeffersons also technically spun off from ALL in the Family?

No one has mentioned Laverne & Shirley.:o

how about King of Queens? Doug was a character on Everyone Loves Raymond first

He doesn't play the same character though. But they did have a crossover.

Coach Graham T. Lubbock who started out as a character on Growing Pains is the connection between the 2 shows.

Yep. The Jeffersons were the Bunkers' neighbors until they moved on up to a deluxe apartment in the sky.

Lou Grant was a great show when I was a kid; it was a spin-off from The Mary Tyler-Moore Show

You know, I've never seen Lou Grant. I did see Phyllis (bad) and Rhoda (okay).

Yeah Phyllis was a stinker but Lou Grant was a pretty solid drama. Which is the best direction to go with his particular character I felt.
