It's "X-Men" (2000) all over again, with some big and pivotal TWEAKS:

1- The X-Men are younger. Much younger. They have a whole life ahead of them.
2- The X-Men have finally "embraced" their public figure side and are not an occasional, mysterious, black leather-clad strike team nobody knows of "anymore" (as in Timeline Prime A), but a full blown team of "superheroes" with costumes.
3- Cyclops will become the leader we all love.
4- Jean Grey is already Phoenix.
5- New enemies are around the corner.
6- I hope Wolvie is recast for future installments and thus Logan will join the X-Men "again" (as in Timeline Prime A) to complete the popular line-up.
7- Rogue could show up as well with her "Marvel" powers.

This is a new beginning for a more faithful adaptation. It's the right time to produce dozens of new X-Men movies.

Why did we have to wait nearly 20 years for it though? This movie won't be out till almost 2019 most likely

It is a bummer that the guinea pig for this sort of thing was the X-men.

Spider-man (2002) and others had the template of Superman and Batman to try and get it right, X-men had to invent it's own language more or less. Just following the TV series/Comics wasn't going to fly.

The Avengers stuff learned a lot of what not to do, hopefully now the X-men can learn too.

I'm ready for more adventure stories though, less end of the world angst

I agree with everything OP said.

Just think it's hilarious that this team starts out with fighting Apocalypse. >.>

with the help of the strongest adaption of Magneto I've ever seen. He was ripping the globe apart.
Storm was amped to,
this was not ur everyday X-men.

But yeah I'm excited for the new team.
There's so many takes we can have possibilites for
I daydream about it at night.

Whats the next storyline you want to see? Sinister?
What tone do you want the films to embracing?
Any power displays?
Let your imaginations run wild!

This is why I really don't understand the reboot people. Do we really need another movie setting this all up again?

Until Fox shows me they are ready to embrace the comics and the more "fully blown" scifi and fanstasy aspects of the X-men the way we see the Avengers and others are represented in the MCU--AND LETS BE HONEST, THAT'S REALLY WHAT ALOT OF US ARE WAITING FOR AND WANT--I will remain skeptical and pessimistic about this franchise.

No, I'm not a hater or anything of that sort. I'm just a major fan of the X-men form the comics and have been sorely disappointed by the overly conservative and lackluster version of the X-men we have received, even in the light of the MCU. I get it, Fox took a risk with the X-men, but all the risks have been mitigated since then by the Spider-man films and the MCU.

Time for this franchise to put up or shut up.

Have you seen Apocalypse? He was full blown scifi fantasy, for better or worse.

I feel old and isolated, but falling in line with the MCU is exactly what I don't want.

i really loved XMA and the major take away is singer and FOX put together a great team of awesome likable mutants for the future

The thing is alot of the time when people describe what they want from these X-Men movies... its usually pretty similar to the MCU

The same could be said for a lot of things people don't want from these movies.

MCU did not create the Super-Hero Genre
XMA did not feel like MCU at all

Apocalypse/Magneto's power levels were insane
the tone and subject matter easily flowed from gritty/dark to 92' Fun

Quicksilver got his leg broke
kid got whacked with an arrow
people were melted
ur not seein that in mcu

Like what?
Movies that don't making us feel the stakes, bad villains and humor over depth. Mostly though the way they force each movie to be a part of this bigger universe, which more often than not actually hurts the movie.

That's what I appreciate about the X-Men films. Even though they are all telling a larger story, each film FEELS standalone and tells its own story. FC could have just ended there. DoFP could have just ended there. Apocalypse, too.

I really hope that we get a new series of X-Men films with this new young team. I think they work so well and it would be a shame to waste them. The only problem is we are now forced to tell stories in the past and not the present day.

What is this thread?
We already have few threads about sequels.

And Angel getting his new wings. So great and disgusting.

This aint the MCU baybayyyy.

Nobody ever pointed out that Apocalypse was a Cronenberguesque character.

The original X trilogy was more along the lines of what you'd get off the sci fi channel. I dont exclusively blame the budget either. It just seemed like a Nolan-esque attempt at grounding characters that don't need to be grounded. We love them even when they are garish and colorful and sky high, blowing our minds.

The majority of the battles in X1, X2, and Wolverine have been close quarters sci fi kung fu matches. Be it between Wolverine and Mystique/Lady Deathstrike/Sabretooth, or the others.

I'm still waiting for the Avengers Battle of NY for this franchise. Whether that's vs the Brotherhood or Genoshan soldiers or Sentinels or the Brood or whatever.

The closest we've gotten is the final scene of X3 (not that great), Cuba in FC (not that great) and the future scenes of DoFP (pretty awesome but a losing battle). Apocalypse final battle was exciting in it's own way, but also very boring at the same time.
