$1.3B feels unreal. It's like another Avengers sized film rather than just a standard good new solo sized film.
Aloha,
1.3 billion has been my mantra for some time now. Black Panther is now 2 months old as a movie. When all of the totals come in, it will have taken Black Panther 9 weeks to make 1.3 billion dollars. I have been a lifelong fan of both Spider-Man and Black Panther. Spider-Man has always been a dominating force in the Marvel comic book/cinematic world. For Black Panther to stand as the most successful solo superhero movie, makes me very proud that I was a fan from the start.

The fact that will make over $1.2B even without China is astounding. This movie wasnt expected to make $100M in China just 3 months ago from a lot of people on the internet. The China money is just icing on the cake. It will be one of the top 3 most profitable superhero films ever.Yeah, except in China. It's ending its run there today with a multiplier just below 1.57x. Has taken BvS's place as the most frontloaded Marvel/DC movie ever in China
They are definitely 2 of the hottest heroes out there right now. Hope both sequels hit it big too and get at least $1B each.Aloha,

Box Office: 'Black Panther' Just Missed The $1.3B Mark

Ryan Coogler and Joe Robert Coles action drama just missed the $1.3 billion worldwide mark, ending the frame with (eye-roll) $1.2999b. It is the 10th-biggest global grosser, between Frozen ($1.277b in 2013/2014) and Star Wars: The Last Jedi ($1.33b in 2017/2018). It just might get past the last Star Wars film (if not the last Harry Potter flick, which earned $1.43b in 2011). Considering the inexplicably negative press that The Last Jedi got for only grossing $1.33b, it might not be in Disneys interest for the Star Wars flick to be taken down a notch. Moreover, the higher Black Panther gets, the more Infinity War must gross to avoid negative press.
Talk about click bait.
It ain't over til it's over baby!
BP will hit the mark.

Being able to smash box office records with little help from China is a huge achievement. That shows how well-received Black Panther was in the vast majority of global markets.
I'm still amazed that in places so random like Netherlands or Vietnam it's their top grossing superhero film. It's really caught on well.
