Most of you probably never watched it or even heard of it , but does someone here did watch TBS and knows if rumours I've heard are true, that there will be a sequel?

I've been waiting 6 years for a sequel, hope it's not fake...

Nope but as lately Duffy is trying to get the sequel made.

Apparently the director just uses the sequel to keep up interest and get people to buy DVDs and merchandise. I love the film, but the director is a complete prick and I doubt he can convince anyone to give him money to make it.

meh, that sucks, I'm pretty sure if a studio gives the money to make it, it'll have a huge sucess, the first film had a small budget and still it was awesome, cant imagine if they had the budget for a sequel, even though it could be a failure but I doubt it...

actually, more people on these boards have seen this movie then you probably realize. a lot of fans. but there hasnt really been a lot of news as of recently. and by recently i mean the past 5 years :(

I remember walking by Hot Topic around St. Patricks Day, and they had a Boondock special going on. There were all sorts of Irish shirts and merchandise related to the movie, I had no idea it was that popular till then.

Lately merchandise has gotten really popular, especially Hot Topic type stuff like zip-up hoodies and chain wallets.

I don't know which UNORIGINAL piece of garbage that people on these boards seem to over-rate more, Boondock Saints or Equilibrium. Either way, both movies are mediocre knock-offs of much better work.

I sent an e-mail to producer Don Carmody last year and he responded that the sequel was tied up in the bankruptcy proceedings of the original financier (I'm assuming Franchise Pictures) and he was hopeful of a positive outcome. The one night only screenings sold out all over the country and the special edition DVD sol pretty well, there is definitely interest. I read an interview with Willem Defoe where he said he would not do the sequel because the script wasn't there and there has to be a reason for doing a sequel. This from the man who was in Speed 2 and xXx 2.

Well, I've shown this movie to like everybody I know, and they all loved it, it's a good movie that had a very very very small budget, we dont all want FX and 3D in every single movie...

I know its not a big deal, but I like to take satisfaction in saying I liked something before it became a fashion statement. :)

My problem with Boondock had nothing to do with the small budget. It was how the film was basically a rip off of a Tarantino movie, but lacked all of the class and subtext a good director like Tarantino tucks into his films. It just seemed very sleazy to me. A sleazy movie done by a sleazy guy who really didn't seem to know much about the genre he was ripping off.

Equilibrium's pretty much a ripoff as well, but I liked, even love that one because it's at least directed with some class and skill, and obviously is very much a B-movie, and I think, in that sense, it works. Not to mention it's always cool to see Bale headline a film.

Tarantino is a good director, but I wouldn't call him "classy" by any stretch of the imagination.

I wasn't calling him classy, I was calling his direction classy. He does much of the same thing Boondock's director did with lifting ideas from other, older movies, but Tarantino, IMO, has a greater understanding of how those types of films are made, and they're all the better for it.

I'd agree with that. I thought more of subject matter when you said classy.

You have no idea what a cult following this movie has, do you?

I disagree about it being a ripoff of a Tarantino movie. I understand that perspective, but it's different in a lot of ways from Tarantino's movies. The similarity mostly comes from the use of nonlinear storytelling, a lot of violence, and a lot of profanity, along with a similar sense of humor. I thought it was a great film. From a filmmaker's perspective, there were some obvious flaws, but it was still a quality film in my opinion.

Equilibrium does borrow its themes from pretty much every dystopian novel ever written, but it's still an excellent film, and I wouldn't call it a B-movie by any means.

The guy's hated in Hollywood, and rightfully so he was a prick... BS2 will never happen, he was given the chance of a life-time and he pissed it away. Also the reason it got made was everyone was looking for the next pulp fiction, it was a pulp fiction rip-off plain and simple.

Didnt know it was so well known, since it came out directly on DVD, most of the time, those movies are just unknown to the world ^^

I liked the movie a lot, but there have been sequel rumors basically since right after the movie came out, it probably won't happen.

It became a massive cult hit when it came out on video. Blockbuster really pushed it and tried to get awareness for it.

That's great, isnt there any petition about making Franchise pictures give the budget to make the sequel? since it looks like a lot of people like that film, I really really really want this sequel :(
