Superman Returns The brilliance of Bryan Singer...

What can I say. It is always good to have more than one dimension only per character.

for me, it was the visual representation...

And we are back full circle  You just said that the colour (visual representation) is not the most important thing about Superman, although still important. So I ask you what is the most important. You say the visual representation.

that's why I disagree with Guy Dyas using brown, grey, and beige in a Superman movie.
Woah woah woah, hold up.

You are saying that no brown, grey or beige should be allowed in a Superman movie?

Are you seriously saying that certain colours shouldn't exist in the Superman universe? Do you want yellow mud? Green steel?

I should of said story and visual representation... for me those two go hand in hand, especially when it comes to Superman

I never said that... don't put words into my mouth.

That's what you said. You said you disagree with the idea of those colours being used in a Superman movie. Basically, you have just disagreed with the idea of rainclouds in a Superman movie.

I said I disagree with it, not that I hate it... disagreeing and hating are on 2 different levels.

The reason I disagree with that particular triumvirate of colors is because when you combine them other vibrant colors, such as red/yellow/blue/green, the vibrancy, hue, and saturation will be greatly diminished depending on how much you use them...

brown and grey easily wash out a red hue and change it to wine, muddy brown, or a muddy wine purple. Same thing with the blue.

beige lightens yellow and can easily wash out any vibrancy that specific shade has

just because I disagree with it doesn't mean I hate it... You can use them, just not on the level that Singer implies in that movie. He used it so heavily, he washed out the blue hues, yellow hues, and even white hues in the sky during the plane sequence

I know, thats why I used the word 'disagree' and not 'hate'.

Anyway, i'm off to bed now. I think this discussion has gone on long enough.

Good night.

I don't know where the darkness come from, but Metropolis surely as hell don't look anything like Gotham City. It may not be overly bright or whatever, but it look nothing like GC. I want some pics & comparsion of Metropolis to GC to see it. Otherwise, Metropolis look fine & no sign of dark look in it at all. Not having it look like what Donner did don't mean it dark or whatever. :word:

I never thought that Metropolis was noticeably dark until the third act, where the weather was overcast, a giant continent was on its way to flooding North America and Superman was brutally beaten and left for dead. So I don't know what is wrong with using a dark colour palette for those scenes.

Especially since the film was bright when it needed to be, the plane rescue, superman recharging above the clouds and flying into the sunset.

Exactly, as the story went darker towards the end, so did the lighting, to reflect what the events happening, and, at the right times, we got our moments of brightness.

I dont think Routh was bad at all, I loved him as Superman and infact most of the critics did too.

Likewise, quit trying to imply that i'm on some sort of hater vendetta.
Well Saph, I mean you are Saph yet once again, coming in here with a fake name arguing your B/S. Glad to have outted you again. You are banned and outta here. Don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out.

And really, you guys keep aruging/agreeing with this fool. He was banned from here for a reason.

My favorite Superman is the one Alex Ross draws. But he doesn't exist in real life. Only on page and in a wax museum. So I must settle for Reeve and Routh.

Saph is permanently banned here for multiple reasons. Just ask excellsior and he will tell you. And Saph is permanently banned for life from here.

I'll take you word for it, just saying he didnt seem that bad of a guy from what I personally have seen.

Me 2, he truly was superb

He was, and IMO, if they do re-boot, whoever they get wont be as good.

Saph is pretty bad, trust me. He is so immature & say some of the silly things. In fact, I talk back to him & one guy use the "Owned!" pic when I got the better of Saph. That why he got banned & keep coming back with different names and get banned with each new names: he's a trouble maker. Period. ;)

I personally did not see anything in Routh that screamed Superman. He only had a few lines in the film. His acting was not poor, but was not good either. It felt like he was trying hard to imitate Reeve.

Just look at what Reeve had done in S:TM and then you will see what Superman should act and be like.

I Love STM and SR and although the first one is better than the second. Routh was way better than Reeve. IMO.
