The Bring Back "the Funny Pics Thread" Thread

Hey, how about bringing back the best thread this site had going for it.

I don't even know exactly why it was closed, but my guess is a couple people were being a bother and instead of just penalizing those few everyone lost out on a great thread.

I've tried finding a similar thread on other sites but haven't found one that matched it.

I was put on probation for a month for quoting a falcon punch picture. The guy who posted the original pic got an infraction.

Mods takes it too seriously too. For example, banning the Falcon Punch, because there are like 2 pictures on the net that use it in connection with abortion. How about just simply banning anything that has to do with abortion? Where was the effin' logic in that decision? I wouldn't be surprised if they started banning Captain Falcon next, because it could cause someone to post a funny Falcon Punch image.

This thread makes me sad. The Funny Pics thread wound up being closed after an argument started for reasons it seems nobody understands (or chooses to understand). Once again, I'm glad it's dead, but I'm sad people are missing the point.

I just don't understand why the Funny pics thread is the one thread that gets so tightly regulated. I'm not into posting overly offensive imagery, but I've seen worse crap posted in the Gifs Thread. Yeah, there are some Ninja mods that let the occasional post disappear, but you still got stuff like a severed arm landing in front of someone on the table. I have yet to witness the amount of b****ing that I've seen countless times in the Funny thread.

It was probably for the best. The system would have banned me for another infraction. I presume a probationary ban doesn't fall under that rule because I'm still here.

Anywho. Small price to pay compared to a permanent ban. But yeah... it does seem a bit unfair. I was only quoting the perp.

One of the best thing about the Hype was that thread, it needs to come back. For me the hype just aint the same.

I was not involved in the whole "incident" but I chuckled that the funny pics thread would be considered by anyone to be the "best thread". This is ironic as I probably chuckled more on that fact than I did on 98% of the pictures in there. Every so often there would be gem but it was mostly old or crap...or old crap.

Some of you act like there is not a whole internet thingy out there with hundreds of sites dedicated to funny pictures, and even funnier picture threads elsewhere on the hype.

Well I find most threads in community are pretty forgettable and die after a few pages.

The funny pics thread was the most reliable thread on the hype for laughs. There were times when the hype was pretty dead and the funny pics thread kept me coming back.

I've seen other funny thread around the interweb and they're usually not as good.

That's more of a testament of how sad the Community forum is than how good the Funny Pics thread was.

Try Shortpacked, Cyanide and Happiness and Failblog if you are looking for something to laugh at. All three sites had many pictures reposted on here from those sites first, or at least before.
