Metropolis City Hall and all that is in DC.

Clark talking to the dead prisoners wife. When she says you can't use words, only fists, with Batman, that was an absolutely necessary moment. It explains why he was so tough with his "bury it" warning, and, most important, it clarifies why he doesn't spend more time trying to talk to Bruce about the Martha stuff.

Agreed. If there was one scene that should have been left in the TC version, it is Clark investigating Batman in Gotham. Him helping the injured after senate bombing comes as a close second.

So I watched it yesterday night. And I ****ing loved it.
Its weird though,I had read all the spoilers and I knew what was coming.Yet,this version of the film hit me the hardest emotionally. For a big Superman fan like me,the biggest thing Im happy about is they did his death justice. The ending was really good.
The thing this cut changed for me was,I used to tell people "I know its flawed, but I love BvS",now I can say "I love BvS".

Same here. It's even slower and more somber though, so people who complained about this certainly aren't going to like it. But I love long and slower films if the story is engaging, and to me, it is the case with this film. Biggest advantage of UC over BvS is that the motivations of characters, their mindsets and subsequently actions and the way Lex manipulates them all becomes much clearer and some things that seemed random before make perfect sense now.

Speaking of Lex, the fact that bombing of senate wasn't just a way to get people pissed at Superman, but for Lex to cover his tracks as well is a major change to me - what I thought was an idiotically risky move on his part is now a necessary one... Lex comes across much better to me in UC.

And it's true that it hits more on the emotional level, for some reason Superman's death hit me harder in this version... probably due to the fact that I've seen more of him doing things, communicating and having relationships with people around him. You see all that he chooses to sacrifice in the third act.

In the end I must add that this feels much more like a continuation of MOS or rather a Superman-centric film. He was the center point of the TC, but in UC it is perfectly clear that it's all about him.

Ultimate Cut makes the movie a little bit better.

... that's really all I can contribute to this conversation right now, I think.

No. The warlord is pretty much toast, though I dont love Superman breaking the guy, he is a warlord and in this world thats enough.

and Jimmy gets shot, the government back at HQ flip out and send a drone out to blow whoever killed Jimmy and superman intervenes due to Lois being there. It add to Lex's plot that even the Government really aren't sure whats going on.

thanks.

so that means Superman really did kill that warlord? :csad:

Will be going to the NYC UC Screening after work , actually excited again ..Tried my best to avoid the UC scenes & spoilers. even though I really liked the TC im curious to see how much this improves

I sort of hope the ultimate cut version 'isn't' better, because it doesn't exactly make WB/DC look any smarter. Why deliberately put out an inferior version in the first place to grace the theatres.

It's a bit better, but no one outside fan forums will make much of a distinction. It won't do any more damage to WB.

Im super pumped for the UC, too, can't wait. But, I watched Man Of Steel the other day, probably like the fifth time I've watched it, but, Idk, maybe after having seen BvS (in the theater once) I felt a much stronger emotional connection to the character of Superman.

I'm not a fan of a lot of the criticism leveled at these films, I understand people's criticisms, I just wish they were a little more open to allowing DC to tell the kind of story they are telling. We all love these characters, or at least certain iterations. I grew up loving Superman going back before I have memories. Seeing Batman '89 in theaters is one of my earliest memories. I've always seen Superman as this big, serious leader with a moral code and he always makes the right choice. I'm really enjoying seeing this more humanized version, a regular guy that you can relate to and empathize with, he's still got that courage and that big heart, but he's struggling with his decisions, trying to become the idealized version of himself. I'm about to turn 30 years old, and I feel the exact same way.

I appreciate this version of the character, I think it's a great dynamic of having Batman as the older, more experienced, more cynical guy that Superman brings back from the dark side. I feel like sometimes people's expectations for the character might not make for the best story. Why jump straight into the confident leader, black and white Superman? That's like starting The Godfather off from the final scene of Godfather II. It's more interesting to see how he becomes that.

 Agreed. Not everyone will like it but I am glad I am one of those who like the approach they are taking. Far more interesting in my opinion. Gives you more to think on these characters in the future and more to talk about.

i'm loving the approach WB took for the Superman but MoS and BvS had enough problems purelyin terms of storytelling for me to love it.

The storytelling is a lot better in the Ultimate cut.I think you will enjoy it more.

A thing I noticed in the UC Superman's sacrifice is displayed a lot better. Whoever put that spear into Doomsday was not going to survive. He put one big gaping hole in Supes chest. That no one but him could of even thought about continuing to fight. You understand why he had to do it, why he couldn't ask Diana or Bruce. I scored the theatrical cut in mid 60's to low 70 range. I'd place this in the mid 70's to low 80's. Superman just comes off so much better in this cut, I really enjoyed his part of the story so much.

Not sure if this is exclusive to Ultimate Cut or was in the theatrical one as well and I just didn't notice it, but it would seem that Superman "says" to Lois to get rid of the kryptonite spear right before he flies away to confront Lex, by looking in the direction of the spear that is lying on the ground and giving her a meaningful look to which Lois responds with a reassuring smile. If I have translated this exchange of looks correctly, it would mean that Lois didn't decide to toss it in the water on her own.

Really interested to see how critics respond to this tonight/tomorrow.

I would guess there will be a largely positive response to the fact that the narrative does flow better, and things are more coherent, but they also probably reiterate the film's overall issues with character, story and tone that couldn't be fixed with a twenty three hour cut and free oral sex.

...now you're just talking crazy...:sly:

thanks.

No Clark said he didnt kill anyone in africa.

He said he "didn't kill those men", referring to those who were burned to frame him.
He also said "I'm not a murderer", however killing a warlord who us directly threatening an innocent life, wouldn't be considered murder by many.

It's never made definitive one way or the other.

MoS is a masterpiece. No one ever backs up criticism of MoS, it's all blanket statements. Under the highest of scrutiny it is flawless.
BvS UC a worthy follow up and makes sense in framing how the core relationships have real events to centre a life long bond together.

I wouldn't say a masterpiece, but he is right in what he says. Everyone has had complaints on MOS, but most of them have been moronic to say the least. Because they see the action, and ignore the meaning or reasons for it just to get their point across.
