The Cape

I'm still optimistic about this show, but I love the addition of the mask instead of just having the hood. Preview looked good too.

Nah. Still looks like an all too cynical attempt to cash in on the mainstreams current (dwindling) hard-on for all things Superhero.

I'd love to be wrong but the thing is, based on everything we've seen of this, I REALLY don't think I am.

I don't like taking the Event off for this. But,this Is not the Cape's fault.I was consdering watching this for Summer Glau but consdering the lacj of her In promos something tells me she only has a small role In the series.

Watched the making of/trailer in the theatre this weekend looks like its worth a look

I'm late to this thread, and haven't really been paying much attention to The Cape. But I just saw the preview and thought it looked pretty damn impressive. I don't know why there's so much cynicism here, all the way down to this guy's cape being a liability in realistic fights. He's a superhero, that's the point.

I like how this show (at least from the preview) isn't trying to water down the superhero concept. In the past, TV had superhero shows with full superheroes but without the effects, stunts, and budget to do them justice. More modern shows might have had the budget, but they also had an unwillingness to focus on fights or use traditional superhero elements like costumes. The Cape looks like it embraces the superhero concept, complete with the fights, exotic gear and abilities, and actual villains. I also like how it doesn't seem like an overly cynical (and somewhat embarrassed) take on the genre. The hero comes across as a real good guy and talks about inspiring others.

I think I'll check this out. It could be like a Nolan Batman TV show, since we're never getting a real one. Who knows, it could be pretty damn good in its own right.

the outfit looks cheap and the whole show just looks hokey

way to **** it up, NBC....this failure will hurt when a producer wants to get a proper super hero show on the air

The Cape's hood reminded me of Bruce Willis' poncho in Unbreakable (2000). After undertaking his first crime fighting act at the end of that movie, I always thought that concept should have been brought to the small screen. The Cape has a more pedestrian premise, but I'll definitely check it out.

I can't recall if I been in this thread, but if this show does even 6.5 mil viewers per eppy, it should see a second season. The Event is a disaster in ratings, Chase is chasing cancellation is Chuck is a cult bubble show.

its not going to do 6....I say it will get about 5 for the premiere, and people will not come back because it looks f'ng hokey and the numbers will slide downward

The same here I like that Keith David is involved too.
I love the voice overs (Goliath in gargoyles)
he has done.

as well as carpenters "The Thing" and "They Live" with him in the show I think it add a lot.

And Captain Anderson in the Mass Effect series. :awesome:

Saw a preview w/ Summer Glau. I'll watch the premiere to see what's up.

Cape reminds me of NightMan. That show was cheesy and this one looks like it's a big piece of gouda too.

a superhero, taught by a carnie

is this what it has come to?

but Hawkeye doesn't have his own tv show, does he??

plus using a bow and arrow ups the cool quotient, thus off setting the lameness of being trained by a carnie

True, doubt Marvel will consider DC put up GA in smallville

I dont wana sound all high and mighty but, how hard can it be really to make a good superhero show? Or not even "superhero", just a down-to earth vigilante-crime-fighting show? I read the plot of the premiere and it sounds absolutely ridiculous, whos writing this stuff? Are they even getting people familiar with comic books to run these shows? I feel like it CANT be that hard. Heroes got it right their first season, follow that formula.

Life on Mars wasn't cancelled. It got two series and a follow up series Ashes to Ashes that explained everything eventually and had the Devil in it.

But anyhow, The Cape looks interesting so I'll look at it. Not got much hope that it will be interesting but I'll give it a look and maybe 3 episodes.
