Of course once you get older everything is "back in my day it was better" but it really does feel like movie marketing has taken a huge tumble. I feel like since posters don't sell like they used to (maybe at least from what I've seen) and with an even bigger boom of blockbusters that studios realized they don't need to spend much on making a good poster, trailer, etc. It feels like every movie trailer hits the same beats. And I think once studios figured out a formula, they just stuck with it for the sake of time in money.
Why spend money editing a really good trailer, when you can spend less and get the same results

I'll say this, movies these days always find a way to cut corners... I'm watching the old Firestarter movie for the first time and the sense of population and scale for certain scenes is totally there and it makes for a better movie where I'm guessing the new one will feel more isolated like an indie film where the total people in the cast is about 10 or less and 5 of them will have speaking roles.

Also having it shot on film as opposed to digital is another big advantage of making it feel like you're watching a movie, but that's a whole other story.

This might be controversial but I prefer Dolby over IMAX. I’ve seen Shang-Chi and The Batman in Dolby and Doctor Strange in IMAX and I think I had the better overall experience with Dolby.

Yeah, same. Unless it's a Nolan movie and it's shot in full IMAX (1.43 : 1), I don't even bother. Dolby pretty much has a great clear projector that does the job and has a better sound system where it makes you feel like you're in D-Box.

On a slightly optimistic outlook, I hope all these troubles has Netflix focusing on quality over quantity. I cancelled my subscription and will just be renewing month by month when Stranger Thing 4 and 5 and however many more seasons of You are left (hope next one is the last)

Imo, from the outside looking in, I think Netflix should start offering some of their stuff VOD style. But I'm just talking ****. I don't know enough about Netflix's business

The Disappearance of Alice Creed- crime thriller with lots of twists.

Byzantanium- underrated vampire flick

IIRC correctly, she struggled in Hollywood because the studios labeled her too "big" and she wasn't going to starve herself to meet their standards. Which is insane that there are empty suits out there that have their idea of the female body that freaking warped.
