The Dark Knight The Comics to film Comparisons. sponsored By fans(hopeso)

Whatever it is, it hurts my head to look at in a continuous loop.

When I first saw this, I thought it was Joker seen through fear gas....but after thinking about it, I think this is the escenario (sp?), the lights are out, so Batman is in sonar mode (ya know, with the white lenses) and that´s how things look with the lenses on, and that´s when the Joker caughts him off guard (with a crowbar, hell yeah !!!!).

My two cents.

The scene where the Mayor is killed in his cell by the gang leader.

That is a VERY interesting theory.

Well done.

The panel is from Issue 15 of "Gotham Central," the final part of the "Soft Targets" storyline. The Joker is in police interrogation at GCPD HQ, and has quite the mocking attitude (despite the police abuse). I think that the tone of the scene will be very similar to the one in "The Dark Knight."

"Soft Targets" is one of the best (if not THE best) Joker stories ever written, and captures the scary, anarchistic spirit of the Joker perfectly. As much as "The Long Halloween" is an influence on "The Dark Knight" (with particular regard to the Triumvirate storyline, the Two-Face storyline, and the end of the Mob storyline vs the rise of the "freaks"), "Soft Targets" seems like it's as strong an influence on Nolan's interpretation of the Joker.

In "Soft Targets," the Joker is creating random chaos in Gotham, causing mayhem and panic on a city-wide scale. He blows up buildings in acts of random terrorism and takes out people in the streets with a sniper rifle (including the mayor - sound familiar?). Between that and his willing surrender to the police for interrogation in their cell, the inspiration is undeniable (I'll bet you the Joker is at least partially willing to be taken into police custody at the point he is arrested during "The Dark Knight.")

EDIT: "Gotham Central" also has a storyline where the cops break off their relationship with Batman. They remove the signal, which ends up shattering. Also very similar to what seems like is going to happen in "The Dark Knight."
where can i get this book?

Once again, half the stuff he says happens in Soft Targets doesnt, and it's no where near the top 10 list of all time greatest Joker stories. Is it a good read by a great writer and artist, yes? Is it a definitive story for the Joker in any way? No.

Joker never once blows up a building in Soft Targets. I literally just read that story earlier today. He only kills 3 people, as well, with the sniper thing. The mayor, a superindendent, and a cop.
He plants a bomb in a toy store which kills another cop (Patton, I think). The sniper killings do cause city-wide panic, with people fleeing Gotham.

if that happens then that sonar is completely worthless:oldrazz:

maybe its the scene where he beats brian douglas( the fake batman) and douglas is on the fear gas?

its still a great story and the joker does in fact blow up a building. there are def. some similarities, especailly the joker getting him self caught on purpose to distract everyone.

this thread really shows how much more iconography nolan is taking fom the books this time around.

I thought this thread was for posting comic to film comparision, not a regular discussion, maybe im wrong, correct me if I am.

oh and someone mentioned a similarity between the batpod and the motorcycles in Hush.....it's not really a question of design but it's more about the position when you're riding it....:woot:
