The Most baffling thing to see, is how especially Right Wingers stand on literally nothing.
The ones who have been taught the most about these "American Values", have none with Trump.
Like, these people have been taught and screamed that Government should keep out of their business.

Now they are shrugging at Trump doing all he does, Musk having access to peoples information etc.
The ones who screamed that america will never have a king or Dictator, now go "Oh America needs a dictator and trump is the right guy".

And its so insane because what were these american values for then? Generations of especially conservatives have been taught certain values about america...but none of it matters now.

And that is so crazy to me as German, when i look at it from the outside.
All these American Hollywood films, all the books, tv ads, music, games etc about heroes who stand up, targeted towards these "patriotic" Americans...and they meant nothing?

None of these People stand on anything, have no principles etc? That is so baffling.

I see the same thing as well, especially on facebook, where right wing Maga has taken over, so many people defending Musk for dismantling everything, saying its baffling so many people hate him, all he is doing is weeding out corruption, umm, no, he isnt doing that, but you cant tell them otherwise.

Frankly, i am baffled as anyone as to what happened here, up till Obama we were not as divided as we are now, but once President Obama won his second term, republicans snapped, they got taken over by the tea party, a group of people who decided they were right no matter what and there would be no compromise, i think at the root it was flamed by racism, Obama was not only black, but well educated, a leader, loved by millions, and world leaders like him, this at its very core is a front to white power and nationalism, then Trump came to power inside with the party with his birther crap, claiming Obama wasnt american, again, this is born of racism, questioning something a white candidiate would never be asked.

Trump won playing us against each other, decades of Rush Limbaugh and Fox news brainwashed millions here that they were being attacked by the liberals, liberals are bad and evil accoding to them, it became us vs. them, everything in this country is a war now, race, religion, politics, meanwhile, here is Trump, playing off that division, this is a guy who failed his whole life, conned people, but he managed to enact the biggest grift of all, convincing manly white men that he is their champion against minorities, against liberals, against big government, Biden did a good job as president, but he didnt keep his word to step down after one term, and let the democrats pick a legit candidate, we all bought into the hype that Kamala was killing Trump everywhere, large crowds, polls showing here ahead in every swing state, now i wonder if that was all fake, Trumps comments after he won, say Musk helped him win by how easy it was to hack into voting machines to change votes and not be detected makes me take pause, as we see what Musk is doing now in the government and he isnt even an elected or confirmed official, yet he has unlimited access to every dollar already allocated by congress/senate and president.

Republicans here do not fear any kind of uprising, they control the military, the justice department, federal law enforcement, the most violent militias are right wing, and many say they would die for Trump, sadly, i suspect the world can no longer look to the US as a reliable friend, we are officially a dictatorship, and i dont see that changing, there simply isnt anyone strong enough to change anything, republicans control everything now, and they love the power they have.

It makes sense if you look at it from the perspective of a cult. With David Koresh, Jim Jones and others the ideas start out reasonably but gradually become more outlandish over time, enough that the greedy followers just go along or feel too invested to just quit. I'm not saying all conservatives are like that, but I think a lot of them are.
