Some familiar names might be coming to the CW.

The network has picked up two pilots: an update of the 1990s action thriller "La Femme Nikita" and a family drama from "Gilmore Girls" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino.

The French film "Nikita," about a young criminal trained to be an assassin by a top-secret government organization, was originally made by Luc Besson in 1990, then remade in 1993 as a U.S. film starring Bridget Fonda titled "Point of No Return." The story was launched as a TV series in 1997 on USA Network.

"Nikita" will give the CW its first nonsupernatural action drama. In this version, Nikita goes rogue, and a new assassin is trained to replace her.

McG ("Terminator Salvation," "Human Target") will executive produce the "Nikita" remake with Peter Johnson and Craig Silverstein (episodes of "Bones," "K-Ville"), who will write and executive produce. "CSI" director Danny Cannon has signed on to helm the pilot. The show is from Warner Bros. and Wonderland Prods.

While it could possibly be good, TheCW is soon going to be known as the remake network. But I rather have my Nikita be an assassin (atleast start out as) then be on the run to begin with.

I actually think it's an interesting twist. We've had Point of No Return, and the USA Nikita series, and I don't think we should be covering the same ground. I actually think it would be interesting to see another assassin trained to go after Nikita, and maybe be more enthused about being an assassin than she ever was.

Sounds like it the Bionic Woman dynamic, but hopefully better executed.

I just saw La Femme Nikita ( the film ) for the first time the other night , I think this will work again.

Sounds like it'll be a mish-mash of La Femme Nikita and the Jason Bourne movies.

More like the follow-up to a remake of a remake!

And actually The CW has yet to actually ever do a remake. 90210 and Melrose Place are sequels to the originals.

And despite his questionable film resume, McG has given us some damn good television. I'll wait and see.

Maggie Q is the New Nikita!

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that The CW has cast Maggie Q (Mission: Impossible III) as the new "Nikita."

The character was first played by Anne Parillaud in Luc Besson's 1990 film, followed by Bridget Fonda in the 1993 remake and Peta Wilson in the 1997 USA Network series.

According to the trade, The CW's premise of a new Nikita being trained to replace the original one after she goes rogue gave creator Craig Silverstein an opportunity to break the stereotype, and he wrote the lead as "beautiful and exotic."

I suprisingly love that casting .

Weekly servings of Maggie Q? Yes, please!

So does Maggie Q play the Nikita that has gone rouge or the new one replacing her?

:awesome: at the casting though.

Maggie Q, I like that casting.Hope this show's alright.

peta wilson needs work...she should have showed up in this show as the one who trained the new Nikita.

Well you never know, wouldnt be surprised if she did show up.

Now that Maggie Q is involved... I'm REALLY looking forward to it.

Not really liking that they are going with Lyndsy Fonseca as Maggie Q's nemesis. So so wrong.

I like Maggie Q so I will check this out, still love the series with Peta Wilson though

I'll definitely give the pilot a look.
