The Daily Planet - Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨SPOILERS🚨)

This felt like the shortest wait for a film ever. The two years from when Gunn announced the DCU, to filming Superman this summer, to the trailer release (soon) is lightening quick. July will be here before you know it. Just super speed compared to years prior.

No silly Ben Affleck getting a ski injury this time. :awesome:

Honestly a little sad it’s going by so quickly tbh. I could have taken another year of hype. That said I will take the trailer next week, thank you. :funny:

May I interest you in a shiny sub-forum called The Batman Part II, where the hype years keep building and may never stop?

The Batman is literally my favorite CBM but my hype for Batman as a character could never compare to my hype for Supes.

Also The Batman forum’s different because that’s just a bunch of “we don’t know when it’s coming so the sky is falling” bellyaching. :funny:

There's a certain charm to the wait for absolute sure. It's like Christmas in a way where the build up and countdown is the most fun (in its own cruel way) than the actual day of. It's why I will always enjoy this stuff no matter what happens or what has happened prior. It's all apart of the genre and comes with the territory. You got to want this life lol.

But this time around, I totally agree that it's time for the trailer. We need that freshness to wash over us as a fanbase, for better or worse. :legacy:

A press screening for a trailer…… I can imagine all the tweets that will be on Social media platforms after this. I am going dark for sure.

Yeah, I'll be honest, I know it's all part of building the hype but I hate the idea of screening the trailer early for press. Unless they NA anything beyond it's good/bad reactions but then what's the point of doing a press event?

Gonna be a few days of avoiding everything online as this sadly means most stuff in the trailer will be spoilt before people even get a chance to see it because it will all be considered fair game since it's only a trailer.

That aside, I am absolutely ready to see this next week. I can't wait to finally see the new Superman take flight and for the hype to really begin!

Can you imagine the reaction if Gunn took a page out of Nolan's book where the teaser is nothing more than just a few dialog played in the background of the Superman Shield?

Thankfully we already know it’s not, since we’ve heard from people like Frank Grillo who actually saw it.

Nah. This is David's time. He's going to be featured.

As a Jew I have different feelings :o :o ✡️

If the trailer shows only Krypto, that could be either cheesy or effective. Initially, it sounds corny but I just hope the film is taken seriously as a whole. Given Corenswet's costume, I'd say maybe not, but I could be wrong. Baggy suit and larger trunks comes across as silly. I was looking at Tyler's Max Fleischer costume the other day, and noticing the red underwear which you can't help but notice and it is almost laughable. It's not like Superman looks silly in the comics, but when designers have made costumes based on the suit in the past, it looks cheesy. I mean there is a way to ground it. For me, Reeve needed a better 'S'. His red trunks were only slightly distracting.

Back to Krypto. I liked the inclusion of Krypto on the Titans series. That show for me was a hit and miss, but I enjoyed most of it except for the last season. In contrast, I almost thought Snyder took his universe too seriously, yet in Titans, I would say they crossed the line trying to be as realistic as possible...and dark. Titans was even darker than the Synderverse. While I didn't always enjoy the Titans series, I appreciated the effort the creators of the show did trying to take it seriously or treating it as if it was real (despite going too far). Regardless, what was impressive to me was how they included Krypto on the series without it being corny.

In a dark and arguably realistic world, they somehow managed to include a character such as Krypto. I enjoyed Krypto's scenes, I just wish the tone of the series could have lightened up and could have been slightly more fun, while maintaining its dark theme. Obviously Nolan didn't think Riddler, Mr Freeze or Penguin would have been realistic enough for his Batman.

I'm all for having Krypto. Just don't want it to be corny.

I just don't want to have a "that's it?" reaction to it. I want to be blown away, not left scratching my head wondering.
