The Daily Planet - Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨SPOILERS🚨)

I was here...that is definitely not what was going on. Tribalism was out in full force before BvS came out.
I will admit that is when I noticed certain
YouTubers begin spewing the Marvel great/DC sucks bandwagon. Some even did the Superman vs Batman debate. WB kind of was stoking the fires with that as well. Negatively was driving views and then people took sides. I believe Gunn’s Superman movie was made to counteract the hate train. Of course the loud minority won’t go out without a fight.

I remember some fan art having Henry's Superman and Bale's Batman with text saying look out Avengers or something. But that's the worst of it. People were more upset that Batman and Superman first big screen crossover didn't make a billion.

You must not have been in the BvS thread ;)

Jurassic trailer seems like a money grab move to me. Indiana Jones meets dinosaurs. Pay Scarlet and Ali big money let’s see if we can make a billion formula. I love Supes chances after see both trailers. I wouldn’t think about moving.

Ah well let’s just be Marge Simpson and bet everyone has a great time

I found the Superman trailer much warmer, emotional and dynamic with just images and movement.
Same.

Now I'm not a Fantastic Four fan at all, but strictly as a trailer, I honestly don't feel like it's much different from previous Marvel movies... Yes, there's a retro vibe that evokes Kirby, but I strongly suspect this homage is nothing more than visual window dressing.
And while I sure get the team is popular in the US, I just don't feel like the movie is all that anticipated... but I'm probably biaised as I don't follow CBM's stuff on social media, etc.

To come back to Superman, it sure looks fresh as a DC film but perhaps much less so as a CBM film imo. But in any case, its trailer definitely gives a sense of event that the F4s don't, I think. Maybe it's the inherent strength of Williams' theme, but the whole thing just feels more “in your face”.

Superman feels like a throwback to a bygone era of this genre, imo. It's got that comforting feeling, similar to the Raimi Spidey flicks from back in the day. If this film can deliver on the emotional and action front, we are in for something special.

Yeah, if Gunn gives us something akin to Donner Superman/Raimi Spider-Man... This film will make the most out of the three in July, imo. And I hope Gunn delivers. I think he will.

Well, the reality is the GA isn't invested in F4 doing better than Superman , or vise versa, as both respective fan camps are .

Both trailers have gotten alot of views, and both have been received well for the most part , and I think GA are going to end up liking both films.

So while sections of fandom more be more invested in one film over the other, I don't think that's going to be the case this Summer as far as GA are concerned.

Hopefully both films will be great and the GA will embrace both films .

As a fan of both properties , that's what I want .

POSITIVITY!

After watching the F4 trailer, for me, it was a mistake to not show the thing doing some Hulk sized feats of strength.
Other than that, it looked fine.

I loved the galactus shadow, but I don't see this being a mega Blockbuster.
I don't think Superman will be either to be fair.
Both will probably be in the 700 to 750 million range, with superman having the better shot at it.

2008.

I was hella excited for The Dark Knight, Iron Man and Hellboy 2.

I didn't care about which one would be prevail. I just hoped that all three would be great movies. They were.

WE're fans. Not studio executives.

Whatever movie you're looking forward to, just be excited about it and hope it's really good. (And secondary, that it does make enough of a buck to get follow-ups). But whether DC or Marvel will "win July"... who cares?

They’ll have 2-3 projects in the can by the time Superman premieres so their future isn’t solely on the shoulders of Superman. It’s success will likely help propel productions in the second half of this year, but Superman is one of multiple projects in their pocket that will either get them an extension on their contracts or not. Peacemaker S2, Supergirl and Lanterns is not fodder.

I think we're lying to ourselves if we don't think that the vast majority of the weight is on Superman's shoulders. Yes, we'll get other productions, but anything beyond that could very well be wishful thinking if Superman fails.

Superman beat F4 in trailer views.

Assuming both are good, both will do well, but Superman will make more is my prediction.

He's got the edge. :res:

Is the Puppy Bowl spot a trailer or a clip? I thought it was going to be a clip.

I believe it has been billed as a “sneak preview”. Not sure what that entails. I could low key see it being a BTS featurette or something.

I was assuming a clip (Krypto-centric); but a BTS featurette would also count. I doubt it's a another trailer so soon.

In any case, it'd be a good opportunity to show more of the vibe the movie is going for; or highlight one (or two?) characters.
