Gonna need to give David a little more cake. 🧑‍🍳

Well, here’s to hoping that we get a nice treat for this Sunday's puppy bowl event. If anything, I wouldn't be surprised if it's just an extended clip of the Krypto snippet that we got on the teaser.

I want to enjoy Fantastic Four and Superman even though I really want Superman to do well enough at the box office. Can't say I'm excited about Jurassic World...seriously, again? After two really bad sequels? Hard to believe those sequels even made $1 billion. Not that I dislike the original Jurassic Park movies, (not the third one) but I was kind of hoping people would grow a Jurassic World fatigue.

Back to Superman's chances at the box office. Trailers seemed to spark a lot of interest...or is it still just divided people still loyal to Zack Snyder and Henry Cavill? It makes me wonder. I don't know if its lighter tone will win over the audience enough. Looking back, I think Man of Steel potentially could have made 800-900 million dollars worldwide if it wasn't for how the film actually turned out.

If anyone remembers back in 2012 and 2013, how the internet really trended over the Man of Steel trailers. People had high expectations. That was a huge win for Superman, but unfortunately the movie itself didn't live up to those expectations. But when those trailers came out, that was the first time I ever saw Superman get the attention he deserved in a long time. Then Batman v Superman. Two of the most iconic superheroes in the world in a movie was bound to break box office records, and I think it easily could have made over $1 billion...but the film sucked. So it's a wonder it didn't reach that amount.

In many cases before, a trailer released for a movie that was in competition with another movie releasing the same month where one movie's trailer gained more views than the other, but when both movies released in cinemas, in contrast, the other film ended up being quite successful than the other movie that has more trailer views.

For the last few DC movies released, the audience numbers really dropped, but I think it had something to do with the DC reboot announcement before Shazam 2 and Aquaman 2 came out. I don't know which others I forgot to mention. I don't know if Amber Heard's involvement in Aquaman 2 also had something to do and if there really were that many people boycotting the film?

Which brings me back to Superman. Marvel is Marvel and DC is...just starting...again. For me, I thought Wonder Woman was a bigger hit than Captain Marvel, and I can't believe Captain Marvel actually made $1 billion. Even though Wonder Woman only made over $800 million, it was still a critical success. I saw more positive reviews for that movie than Captain Marvel. People were still DC haters? So it was only because of Endgame and that after credits scene in Infinity War. It seems to me.

With Superman now, I'm seeing so much hate, and I think people are irrational so it makes me wonder how successful the movie will be. I don't know where it stands between Superman and Fantastic Four. I want Superman to succeed. Fantastic Four has Galactus which gives them an advantage, and an impressive cast. Some previous Marvel films did flop though. Hit and miss post-Endgame.

It'll be good to get something after the Chiefs win the Super Bowl again. :o

I want Superman to do well enough to justify the continued existence of the DCU. Beyond that I don’t care. I have zero desire to get into a d*ck measuring competition with other fandoms.
That’s The Spirit!

Same.

Now I'm not a Fantastic Four fan at all, but strictly as a trailer, I honestly don't feel like it's much different from previous Marvel movies... Yes, there's a retro vibe that evokes Kirby, but I strongly suspect this homage is nothing more than visual window dressing.
And while I sure get the team is popular in the US, I just don't feel like the movie is all that anticipated... but I'm probably biaised as I don't follow CBM's stuff on social media, etc.

To come back to Superman, it sure looks fresh as a DC film but perhaps much less so as a CBM film imo. But in any case, its trailer definitely gives a sense of event that the F4s don't, I think. Maybe it's the inherent strength of Williams' theme, but the whole thing just feels more “in your face”.
Not to get too far off topic, but that’s exactly how I felt about Wandavision. All the old school tv stuff made it look unique and something different from usual MCU projects. Then I watched the show and slowly realized it is just standard MCU fare with different visual window dressing as you put it.

Any rumors about the puppy bowl footage? I can’t believe I have not seen anything from one of the snarky insiders yet.

My prediction is that Superman wins the summer with a haul of a gazillion schamolians whereas FF only rakes in several hundred bazillion smackers.

Can’t get over how much Rachel looks like someone Tuvix’d Evan Rachel Wood and Zooey Deschanel.
Yeah except Janeway isn't going to kill her like she did Tuvix ;)

Evan Rachel Wood is the only woman I've had a crush on until now... so that makes a lot of sense 😅

Seriously don't know who I'm crushing on more - her, Corenswet or Hoult. This is going to be a roller coaster!

Rachel could easily play a live action Olive Oyl or Marge Simpson.
