The Daily Planet - Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨SPOILERS🚨)

Rewatching that with my wife a few years ago, that was pretty disturbing. And it is more disturbing that it was funny and normalized back then.

And it is jarring to see little Clark stand up out of the ship completely nude.
Yeah naked Kal always seemed weird...

Yeah full frontal. The 70s was a hell of a decade.

I’ve been hearing the phrase of how Gunn or DC Studio wants this to be “The Summer of Superman” and it got me thinking when’s the last time you guys felt like a comic book movie was THE movie for everyone to see during Summer? Endgame?

2012 The Avengers
2008 The Dark Knight
2002 Spider-Man
1989 Batman

Seem like the most impactful to me.

To add to above list, I do think Deadpool & Wolverine had insane amount of hype. Maybe not quite to the level of those, but it did hit over a billion. (Maybe it didn't come out during summer though lol.)

Oh, definitely.

I mean, so did the first two Deadpool movies, and many others. Otherwise they wouldn't have been as successful.

But those to me just seemed like they were on a different level, where everyone and their mother had at least some curiosity to check the new event movie out in theaters, regardless of them being superhero movies or not.

P.S.: I forgot Superman The Movie. That was probably just as impactful.

Joker and the first Deadpool movie. Comic movies making a billion dollars and were rated R. The Deadpool franchise made almost 3 billion dollars off of 3 rated R movies.

Dark Knight was probably the last one for me where it was hard to get away from the marketing. It felt like it was everywhere. I’ve never experienced a marketing campaign like that for Superman.

Gunn’s Superman is all over social media platforms. We will see how that affects the box office in July but people are aware the movie is coming with the help of those platforms. Getting ahead of the other summer movies by releasing the trailer in December was a stroke of genius by Gunn.

The teaser, or shortened version of it, was played last night during the NBA All-Star weekend festivities. I was surprised it is a commercial this early in the year. Has anyone seen it played any where else?

The NBA All Star game used to be the best All Star Game by a mile. What happened….. :gross: :woozy:

They're gonna do the same with Supergirl too, especially in front of Avatar 3. Every $100M+ summer flick will likely hop on that train.

I really hope they hide Milly until the Superman movie. I just hope they have the stones to not waste her appearance in a trailer.

Oh I don't see her being shown in a Superman trailer. I don't expect her to have much of a role at all tbh. Just something slight.
