The Daily Planet - Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨SPOILERS🚨)

I still like Big Bang Theory. I had no idea how many nerds utterly despised it until a year or two ago lol.

If we're being honest, all the supervillains of batman and superman are their fault and creation.
No superman, no villainous Lex.
No batman, no joker that has to win at any cost.

Um... aren't most versions of Lex a villainous ******* before Superman shows up?
Perhaps.
But, Lex doesn’t see himself that way.
He thinks that he is,
Gods Gift to Humanity!
And the rest of the world would see it too, if he could just get rid of, That Darn Superman!

It hits very close to home...until they all get married ;)

I friggin love it and so does my SO.

I don't know.

I like it as a sitcom, but I never could identify with the characters (which didn't make them any less fun), and also am not a fan of the way it brought "nerdiness" into mainstream. And the way it did.

And that Raiders bit is a good example of that.

Never been able to get into it.
I had af friend who kept buying me, BBT DVD box sets. I never responded that well to
It.
To me, BBT isn’t nerd culture, Just an approximation of it.

I find it dumb that people just repeat it and take It as a valid criticism of the movie's writing, when it's just a whiny nerd nitpick.
As opposed to the 5 pages of whining around here about Supermans eyes? ;) This is what we do :o

My buddies and I have conversations like that, and have long before that show. Not the Indiana Jones one...but it is a totally valid criticism of the plot. If the film came out now it would get roasted for it. Doesn't ruin the film like Sheldon and Leonard acted like it did...its just a fun thought experiment because of a plot hole.

(I have 2 buddies who I have had, unprovoked, the "using the teleporter on Star Trek is making a copy of yourself not really teleporting" conversation with...and had it before either ever saw the show) Star Trek people have that conversation and ones like it more than you can imagine)

Nerdiness was going mainstream anyways...Comicon made sure of that. The studios knew it and abused it and now we get dozens of mediocre projects a year that people pretend aren't mediocre. (hence why Raiders would never survive now) Honestly I blame Sam Raimi, Bryan Singer and Chris Nolan. (and Kevin Feige)

I know enough engineers to know that is very much like how they act :)

Yeah, and I didn't participate in any of that. For good reason. I find it dumb and pointless.

Except it's not. It's a very limited view of what a character is "supposed to do" in a movie.

Welcome to fandom discourse. :o

Really and what happens when they open it? They look, they die and the Ark is safe. :)

And it was better off in the Well of Souls. That is where the Ark wanted to be ;)

Indy is a great character, but he is nothing but a feather blowing in the wind and if he never goes on the quest the Nazis will lose :eheh: :clown:

I also wonder how exactly Indy knew that it would be safe for him and Marian to open their eyes. Like, I can accept that he knew opening the Ark would kill all the people who looked at it. But like, how did he know that the lid would autonomously reattach itself and make it safe for them to look? And even if he did know that would happen, how he did he know WHEN it would happen?

I’m just picturing Indy being a real scumbag, testing the waters and telling Marian it’s safe to open her eyes (while keeping his shut) just in case the Ark hasn’t closed back up yet.

Is it your contention that critics wouldn't attack the film now? I mean it's possible but not likely.

Again, it doesn't matter. What matters is if you enjoy the film. It didn't need to make sense...in fact it usually sucks if it does! I don't care that in reality Superman catching Lois in S:TM would have likely broke her spine, it's friggin cool and I liked it. Still made the discussion about it by a physicist fun though :)

Another report of a supposed negative test screen doing the rounds.
This one is from Culture freak (or something similar) and is tagging Jeff Sneider at Variety.

I don't buy it & hate that certain sections of fandom aren't even willing to give this a chance.

That's a parody account, man.

Sneider was fired from Variety 12 years ago.
