The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

Also in a movie full of many worthy MVP candidates, Nic Hoult finally gets his moment to shine

That’s Lex freaking Luthor…. There’s a seem close to the end with him and Superman… It was like watching a comic panel come to life.
Hoult’s Lex undeniably rules. Strongest performance here imo. The dude is vile as Lex. Such a great villain.
My gf loved it!
Same here. My gf is… ambivalent about capes**t and she loved it. Solid popcorn movie.

For those of you that have already seen the film, would you say that it great replay value? Or do you think that the hype for this film will eventually die down for a lot of fans after watching the film a few times?

I can only speak for me but I am glad I have tix to another show this week :)

BTW more from my gf who I am honestly shocked loved the film:

Its the best CBM she has seen with me. (that includes WW and my gf is Greek!) She likens it to the early X-Men films and cartoon which are her faves there is heart, just enough story on each character to make you like them, there is political parts to the story, there is good vs. evil, there is stakes and just the right amount of humor. She cannot stand the vast majority of Marvel films and unequivocally said "this is not a Marvel Film, this is a good movie that is uplifting and fun!".

She found Guy to be hilarious, she found Superman relatable (which is never the case) and she didn't feel like she needed to know anything beyond what was on the screen to enjoy herself. I am seriously shocked, I thought she would hate it but if she likes it that is a very good sign.

Loved it, really great movie. Everyone is amazing, specially David who NAILS Supes since the beginning. His chemistry with the cast, specially Rachel, is fantastic. Not in the same level as TSS and Guardians 3 imo, but is damn close. The future is bright :supes:

Solid stepping stone but I was a little dissapointed. I just expected a little more, there's almost too much going on, most of the humor didn't really work for me and neither did most of the sci-fi elements

Let me give a shout out to Krypto, Mister Terrific, Guy Gardener, and the Engineer. I want to see the Authority now.

The Krypto scenes made so much sense when they introduced a special character at the end.

There are some beautiful tunes in the soundtrack. Many are essentially variations of the Williams themes, but adjusted to different tones and emotions. This one reminds me of both The Deer Hunter and Zimmer's score on Amazing Spider-Man 2, lol.

The score in Act 3 was awesome! Legit got me which is rare!

I can't believe one of the cameos
Peacemaker
was never spoiled for me. So many laughs at that!

The little video they had before the film gives off thrupple vibes :o :wow::love:

Peaking in here and seeing that most of you all enjoyed it = somehow even more encouraging than the RT score 😭

I can't believe I still have another 2 whole days before I can see it! At least I got tickets to a morning showing.

I'm seeing a fair deal of praise for Hoult's Lex, which is surprising bc I assumed he would be the one who would fly under the radar a bit. Being honest, I wasn't sold on him as Lex and felt the role should've gone to an older actor. And I have liked him in recent things... I just felt he was a bit slight for Lex. But it's cool to hear some folks loved him and I'm hoping I agree.

I'm just guessing but you are going to love it ;)

I wasn't either...but good lord he is a chefs kiss! He is willing to burn the world to the ground to kill Superman.

He is having THE TIME OF HIS LIFE in this role. I need him to play it for many years to come.

Is boxofficetheory still in meltdown mode?

Just came back and this movie was really good! I loved the upbeat feeling it had the entire time. I knew I was going to like this movie within the first 10 minutes. The cast was great the action was good the only problem I had was the story which I felt could have been cleaned up a bit. The humor didn’t bother me as some critics have said and I thought it worked well. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed watching it and give it a 8.5/10 definitely want to go watch it again asap

Anyway, it's been nice to stick around long enough, but I'd rather not play with fire and get spoiled.

So, until next weekend for me. I might pay a visit into the box office thread once there are news.

Have a fun OW y'all! Enjoy it! Superman HAS returned.

I'm really happy for everyone who has got to see it already & that you all like it.
Friday for me, so like a few others, I'm out until then.
See you all on the other side. :legacy:
