i dunno if there is a thread like this...if so, delete this one.
I just finished reading The Man Who Laughs and i think its one of the best stories i have ever read... it reminded me a lot to bat#1...i dunno if it is like a remake, I have a little bit of ignorance from me about this. Joker is supposed to be based on his first appearances in batman#1 and 2, and on the Killing joke as well. While the plot is still unknown, and yeah we do know some stuff from it, and since there are different situations going on, like the freaks vs the mob, the joker, the scarecrow, harley dent bla bla bla..i think that the joker part could use some elements from the ¨man who laughs¨...well to be honest a would like to see the whole joker plot be based on that particullary story, since to me its like a better version of the batman#1 story, but i dont know what could be used for the other plots in the movie, for example the alliance joker-scarecrow from knightfall that eventually ends up with the joker taking down the scarecrow. I know there is a thread with the most emblematic joker images that could be used for the movie, but i guessed that it would be cool if we had a thread tha tis only about what ideas and elements from the comics could be used for The Dark Knight and it´s sequel.
As i said ...i dont know if there is a thread like this already...if so, the dont bother replying this..and also sry for my bad grammar.

Doesn't the other thread like this have like the EXACT same title? Weird.

THE MAN WHO LAUGHS is overrated. But it would make an okay plot for THE DARK KNIGHT. And yes, it is a remake of BATMAN #1, just like TDK is supposed to be.

Hehe. I started the old thread. It was called "TDK Comic Book Inspirations."

But I don't mind a new thread, really.

Don't know where you got that idea...

It just updated the Claridge murder for contemporary times, but that's about it. That's where he got the idea about the Batman #1 remake.

Well I know some elements will be taken from the comic, but it's hardly a remake of the story.

I guess. But I can't see how it could be overrated when hardly anyone has read it.

I can't ****ing find "The Man Who Laughs" anywhere.

well it´s pretty much the same story...joker appearing on tv and killing people basically; only that here batman and gordon work...kinda like a team, and since in the dark knight we´ll be seeying gordon with bats and harvey working together...also something that reminded me from what we have seen from the movie, there is a part from the comic where the joker attacks with some dudes dressed up as clowns that look like the guys from the bank robery

Yes, yes i would love the Joker's story to pan out like TMWL, only instead of the Gotham reservoir storyline (already been there), he could have the bank robbery, the mall, and the barges to show he means business.

I like the idea that someone said awhile back, where the story is like "The Joker's Five-Way Revenge", although instead of The Joker killing 5 of his back-stabbing thugs, he destroys 5 popular buildings in Gotham, and tons of people end up dying because of it.

Now that would be badass.

Death is nothing to joke about.

Sorry. Couldn't resist. :csad:

I can't either; well I could but I'm not gonna spend from $50-100 on it. It just makes me more pissed off on EBay. I hope Ed makes reprint soon, otherwise I'm gonna have to get a summer job just to get the book.

P.S. My advice to you (and everyone else) is to start buying the Joker mini-series of BatMan Confidential in July, my guess since the story is about the first encounter of BatMan and the Joker before he became the Joker the prices WILL go up.:whatever:

I'm betting that they'll reprint TMWL once it gets close to the release of TDK. Marvel Reprinted pretty much everything related to Sandman and Venom for SM3.

not to diminish the man who laughs, its a great story...but if thats the 'best story you've ever read', then you're not reading much.

is there a thread for posting comic panels you'd like to/expect to see in the movie? If not, someone make one.:o:meow:

Yea, it's called "Post Things You'd Like To See In TDK." Good luck finding it.
