This year 10 movies got the "Best Picture" nomination (instead of the normal 5). I think if that were the case last year, it definitely would have gotten a nomination.

One word: Academy. They give Oscars to Ron Howard man, what is there to be amazed of?

The reason for 10 nominations this year was because of the backlash the Academy received last year for not nominating the two benchmark films of 2008, which were The Dark Knight and Wall E.

Critically, they were the number one and number two films of 2008.

Depending on the quality of Inception and Batman 3, Nolan will get a "we screwed up" Oscar from the Academy soon enough.

I have this feeling that the academy will rain nomiations on Nolan for Inception. Regardless of the quality.

It will feel hollow regardless of how good the movie is. And I'm not even referring to the TDK snub here. I'm talking about Memento and The Prestige. They are the best movies of their respective years and Memento is the best film of the entire decade IMHO. Only one major nomination between the two of them (Original Screenplay for Memento).
