The Dark Knight The dark knight production notes

Awesome. *Starts reading*

That was a long read, but interesting nonetheless. Most of the quotes we've already read however.

I love this bit:

Corbould flew to L.A., arrived at Nolan's garage, and the first time he looked at Nolan and Crowley's model of the Bat-Pod, "I think he was almost in tears," Crowley laughs. "He looked horrified that he might have to actually mechanize that thing. We kept bringing him cups of tea, and he was just sitting there staring at it, looking like, 'Oh my God, what time is the next flight out?'"

I love the bits about Joker's makeup (movie makeup effects have always interested me). I really hope there's a documentary on it on the DVD. I would love to see footage of Heath scrunching up his face and having that paint applied.

Nice read thanks.

Btw, did the mods close and erase the thread with the BOF interview?

I dont like how real life limitations are discussed in the film. I am referring to Bruce ordering a suit that gives him the ability to move his head. I never thought that he would mention the head turning. What's next, the makeup issue?

So what?

He couldn't turn his head in the BB suit, so why is there any reason for his character to pretend that he could?

In terms of make up someone posted this in the photos thread, its Heath with out the face paint showing off his scars.

EDIT: Just realised its the spoiler forum so I took the tags off

Hello All-- LONG TIME lurker -- I love this forum!!!

Anyways - above is an image of what Heath Ledger looks like with out all the clown make-up. -- Not sure if this pic belongs here in this specific section , but thought it was interesting ....

One of the perks of working in my industry (make-up fx) I recently met the fellows who fabricated all the prosthetics at a make-up trade show.
Very nice guys from the UK.
They told me a very interesting story about how it was Heath who actually designed the make-up (NOT the make-up appliances which were designed by Conor) On the day of the make-up test he showed up with a very basic make-up kit consisting of store bought mascara, white grease paint and lipstick and and basically designed the make-up there on the spot -- everyone loved it and it was the duty of the 'Pro' make-up artist to replicate it every day for the duration of the shoot....

I just think its an awesome story and wish it was more publicly known and mentioned in the offical production notes. Just adds another layer to the already multi-layered character that Heath and Chris Nolan created

(at any rate , if this was the wrong section to post in please move !!-- I dont want to piss-off anyone with my first post!!)

WOW, thanks for posting that. I haven't seen it yet. He looks amazing there... just like Bermejo's Joker.

found it kind of weird that they didnt mention heaths death in his bio for the production notes, since they were clearly written after he died....just sort of strange.

WOW...

loved reading on Jokers makeup.

i hope to God they have a segment on this on the DVD

"There are large segments of the film where we use little or no score."

I love that part, alot of the stuff in Begins felt completely redundant given the already broad strokes in the script. No need to hammer the point

Thanks for that, very cool read :woot:

Don't know if this has been posted but i found some interesting production notes that talk about almost every aspect of the film. Including Joker's make-up process and confirms that batman does have white sonar lenses in the film.

Cheer, the backpack makes sense now. "The only design element of the Batsuit that remained unchanged from “Batman
Begins” to “The Dark Knight” was the cape. Hemming says, “We spent a lot of time getting the cape right for the first film, and we didn’t want to change it.” The cape does have one added feature: it can fold itself into a kind of backpack and then unfurl on command, which was accomplished through digital effects."
