The Dark Knight Rises The Dark Knight Rises Trailer Thread - Part 6

It is pretentious. This is a comic book movie after all. Then again, the Godfather is also pretentious considering the romanticized version of gangster life but I think it's one of the best movies I've seen. Believe it or not, the Godfather's pretentious elements make it even more enjoyable to me.
Similarly with the movie Drive but it works to an amazing effect.

Pretentious doesn't necessarily mean it's bad especially if you have great actors and a director which allows the viewer to invest a great deal of attention into the situation the film is setting up.

1000 different storylines? Pretentious? You're cute. And way off base. But those penguins marching and catwoman dying for the tenth time at the end of br was pure cinematic gold I'm sure.

The thing with Catwoman's "lives" was ambiguous, it was left up to the audience to decide. All the things that happened to her were survivable by human beings.

The Penguins were over the top yea, but they fit in with the hyper stylized tone of Burton's movie.

You know what doesn't fit the tone and style of it's movie? A big yellow bus driving out of a bank in broad daylight on a busy street and no one even noticing.

The guy who said or originally meant it in a negative way. Sure it can be taken as pretentious but like you said it's still great.

Except for getting pushed out of a skyscraper and being brought back to life by a bunch of cats. :oldrazz:

No BR and TDK shouldn't fight...they are my favourites. Compare with b89....I can rip that film all sorts of new a-holes.

Same here. I didn't used to mind B89, but I watched it more recently and just...ugh. A mess. There are some good bits in it, but still.

Returns is awesome, Lazarus cats or nor Lazarus cats. :oldrazz:

Did anyone say Lazarus cats!?

My least favorite is still Batman Forever, it's the only movie that didn't know if it wanted to be taken serious (flashbacks as young Bruce Wayne) like Burton's Batman or be taken campy and fun (Two-Face and Ridder) like Batman & Robin.

I'm still waiting on someone to make a Batman & Robin/TDKR mash up trailer. :oldrazz:

When Gotham is ice, you have my permission to freeze. :oldrazz:

:hehe:
That reminds me, I'm going to do a marathon on the week TDKR comes out. Everything from Batman: The Movie 66 to The Dark Knight.

Ahem, what about Under The Red Hood and Year One? :o

Ah good point, well first I need to get the blu ray for Year One and I'll probably watch a lot of the animated stuff right before I watch Batman Begins (save for Mask of the Phantasm because that deserves to be on it's own)

You should watch all of the films in chronological order, regardless of live action or animation. :yay:

Sure but the main point of this marathon is so I can watch Batman Begins and The Dark Knight fresh in mind before I head out to see TDKR. Once they release the blu ray for TDKR ill do it again in chronological order.

Oh come on, let's be honest here, more than half of the posters on these boards can recite every line of dialogue from BB and TDK correctly if they tried :awesome:

Yes like that but use footage from Batman & Robin.

Uh he did. It was a mixture of several of the old movies.
