The Dark Knight Rises The Dark Knight Rises Trailer Thread - Part 6

Except for getting pushed out of a skyscraper and being brought back to life by a bunch of cats. :oldrazz:

Remember though, she hit a couple of window awnings and snow on the way down. That could be enough to break a life threatening fall. It could be ambiguous I guess in the fact that you could view it as her being knocked out from the fall briefly, suffered head from head injuries and hungry alley cats nibbled on her before she was conscious or that maybe, sure she did die not "died" when she hit the ground and the cats some how brought her back to life.

I know personally I never saw her as some invulnerable, zombie chick with literally 9 lives. The dangers that she experienced were coincidences, like a cat, in my opinion.

Not buying this argument. Sorry.

The part where she falls from the building, yes, I'd say that was when her cat transformation was ambiguous, the fall BM and Rachel had from the skyscraper in TDK was even moreso less likely to have broken their fall without injury. It's just one of those action movie conceits, they put soemthing there to explain how they survived such a large fall, and you bring your suspension of disbelief to that scene, which varies from person to person. But, y'know, fug it, I am fine with both scenes giving enough leeway for survival.
It's when she takes the bullets at the end of the movie that it moves more into a more overt declaration that something supernatural has went on in her transformation into Catwoman. She takes a lot of bullets at point blank range, manages to escape from the hideout with no trace of herself, and then shows up on a rooftop in silouette form, apparently fine, and with a new mask , she must've ran home for that I guess, or she licked it back together.

She electrocutes herself with Shreck, then lives at the end even though he's fried to a crisp. There is definitely some supernatural stuff going on with it. And I still say there's nothing ambiguous about Selina's fall from the building. She's dead and wakes up like a zombie. As far as the fall in TDK, they shoulda died. :hehe:

I already had a long discussion on that fall in TDK, and there is no way I'm gonna get into another long winded discussion on that...but suffice to say, I can suspend my disbelief by the sci-fi elements that are used to explain the survival, the memory cloth and BM's armour, as well as giving some artistic licence for the way that the scene is edited, so we only see a glimpse of the memory cloth being opened, we don't see the entirety of the fall physically, so the memory cloth is actually open and helping to slow their descent more than what we see.
Like, they are still pretty high up when we see the cloth being opened, and then suddenly they are on top of the car. So, the cloth is open for a bit longer than what we actually see.
and it's a sci-fi device, who is to say it wouldn't slow their descent long enough for a safe landing. Combine that with the rules of action cinema, ie most of it is not very realistic, and i am fine with the scene as played.

Arguing over logic and real world physics in Burton's batman films is incredibly futile. You are talking about a world where a man dressing as a bat is the most normal character in the film.

What about Alfred? :oldrazz:

Aw, that was a good opportunity to post a pic of the ep where Alfred wears the Batman outfit, and is sitting in a jailcell, haha. I think that image would have been a 5 :awesome::awesome::awesome::awesome::awesome:

What about Alfred? :oldrazz:

Bruce Wayne: (responding to Alfred's comment about "security" when repairing the Batmobile) Security? Who let Vicki Vale into the Batcave? I'm sitting there working. I turn around, there she is. (sarcasticallly) "Oh, hi Vick. Come on in!"

Who said I was upset over your opinion? I'm simply pointing out that your sarcastic self-righteous attitude towards others here is pretentious. Of course you'll never own up to it. And to be quite frank you seem to be acting like a Burtonite.
The original quote where you called me pretentious has nothing to do with being "self-righteous", that was my opinion about a movie that you took offense to, by then calling me pretentious. Which, I don't see how I could be the definition of such, with just an opinion? It's not like I was telling everybody they were wrong or I was right. Then, you're trying to label me as a Burtonite, when nobody but batbax brought up Returns. We were making a comparative argument about BB to TDK, both of which are Nolan movies. So I'm confused there, as well.

Also, I saw your posts that you made yesterday to Morningstar before C Lee had to clean up your mess. So again, I'm confused why you "hate it" when people pick fights around here, when you seem to be the one who starts them. As for "owning up" to my sarcastic remarks? Yes, I was sarcastic towards you for being overtly offended at my opinion.

Urm, why did you upload that in the official photos thread? lol

What's even cuter, is how I have an opinion on a movie you like, and therefore, results in you trying to belittle me by talking about Returns. A movie, which, nothing was being compared to.

-Nu uh, but you, ummmm, errrrrr, Batman Returns is a horrible
movie

Begins had one thing going on at
the end, and that was the microwave emitter. It didn't have another 50/50 death trap, followed
by SWAT teams trying to bring down Batman, while he brings down the Joker, followed by the
Two-Face encounter with Gordon and Batman. The pacing did change at the end of BB, though,
but that wasn't my point. I was talking about the movie as a whole, which I think TDK easily
has more pacing issues. The
movie as a whole can barely keep up with 2 story lines at the same
time, and it goes far beyond that. I
think Nolan is a much stronger director at non-linear stories.
Although, that's just my opinion,
which I'm sure will humor you. I could probably go into more detail, but I think it would be a waste of
time, cause we need to start
talking about these Penguins and the apparent genius behind it.

But what is humorous, is how you
can't even understand why his speech is pretentious, because it most certainly is. But I guess you
take this as a personal attack, and
I fully expect you to retort by saying how dumb Forever is next, because I know how fully irrelevant that would be to this discussion.

Why would you say that, I'm like, a totally big deal around here.
Everybody loves me, and thinks I'm the coolest guy ever.

*see above for my utter
confusion.

I dislike the end of batman returns.
That's my opinion. I'm allowed to state my opinion whenever I feel like it. Doesn't matter if it's
relevant. But I'm sure you being the burtonite you are, will totally disregard it and feel shunned by my criticism of the lovely penguins. My opinion. On what I've seen so
far. I can comment on it as much as I please. Oh, and if you, a devout burtonite, can bring up your totally oh so relevant opinion we've all heard 9 million times about how another aspect of tdk dissapoinys you, in tdkr trailer thread, I feel me bringing up returns is perfectly well within fair play.

I never attempted to tell you anything about your opinions on Returns, just how irrelevant it was to my original post to what i was quoting. We weren't talking about Returns, you randomly brought it up out of nowhere to try and belittle me, which, was a very weak attempt.

Again, I never said you couldn't say anything about Returns, nor was I trying to debate you on anything about that movie.
