I’ve been reading quite a lot of Batman comics recently, and I have came to this conclusion…

Since Nolan’s Batman Begins was modeled after Batman: Year One, why not have “The Dark Knight” be modeled after "Batman: The Man Who Laughs” which is a canon sequel to Batman: Year one, as well as a retelling of the first Joker story from 1940.

Batman Begins is not modeled on Batman: Year One, there are just a few hints to Frank Miller's comic book.

The only part I would use would be the first paragraph. Joker poisoning the water supply couldn't be used.

Tie-ins...

Batman Begins tie-in

A film version had been in development at Warner Bros. Studio for several years, and while a direct adaptation (with scripts reportedly written by Frank Miller himself, and at one point to be directed by Darren Aronofsky) was eventually abandoned, Batman: The Long Halloween and Batman: Dark Victory, continuations of the stories in Batman: Year One, are both cited as inspiration for the reboot of the Batman movie franchise with Batman Begins in 2005, starring Christian Bale as Batman and Gary Oldman as Gordon. Some scenes in the film, including Batman using a sonic device to summon a swarm of bats to a building and take advantage of the ensuing chaos to escape unnoticed, and the ending in which The Joker's existence is revealed, parallel scenes of the same content from the comic.

Batman: Year One was one of the inspirations for Batman Begins. That does not mean that film was modeled on that storyline ;) Athor inspirations were The Man Who Falls, The Ra's Al Ghul comics by Danny O' Neil / Neal Adams, The Long Halloween, Dark Victory etc.

Ah okay... Makes since... But could it be suggested that most of the story (plot wise of course) was taken from Batman: Year One?
