The Diamond List for August 31st, 2011

Well, looks like my tenure as regular Diamond List poster may have come to an end. Around the end of this week I'll be moving into a new apartment. It's a decent price for the place, but the only problem is that we're stuck paying for both utilities. So, in an effort to make up for that, we've decided not to take cable and internet. Neither of us watch TV regularly anymore, and we're both university students, so the plan is to bum internet from the school when we need it. Not really sure how well that's going to work out in the end, but it's something we're going to try for awhile to wrestle down the bills. So, I probably won't get a chance to be on very much, much less keep this up as regularly as I have. I mean, if I happen to get on and have time, I'll post this if it's not, but whoever should feel completely free in posting.

Kirkman's books have been coming out later and later, but his GTG mini has probably been the worst. It's months behind schedule and who knows if this'll be it.

I wasn't planning on getting SIHOKF#1 by virtue of not being a Shang Chi fan and wanting to save cash, but this week is at least slow. I liked the writer's work on SHADOWLAND: BLOOD ON THE STREETS and it promises to feature other characters like Iron Fist and Bride Of Nine Spiders (who makes total sense for a SPIDER-ISLAND story). It'll probably be decent.

I suppose as a "fair and balanced" Examiner reviewer I should give JUSTICE LEAGUE #1 a try, but I have very little interest. The free preview I saw in DC's promotions did little to sell me on it. If I have nostalgia for Jim Lee stories, I can mine back issue bins and get some far cheaper than $3.99. Most retailers are STILL selling overprints of X-MEN #1 at conventions. If I don't even care enough about the NEW 52 to try BLUE BEETLE or JUSTICE LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL, why the **** would I try this?
