Suddenly a small week now that I have ditched INVINCIBLE IRON MAN. It took me long enough to slog through the last arc, which included a price hike. Heavens why I'd return for a $5 issue. By all rights I should have left THOR when Gillen did and instead tried out THOR: MIGHTY AVENGER from what critics have claimed, but I am where I am. I forget how many issues of THOR Fraction has been on, but I shouldn't give him more than six if things will get this slow.

On the plus side, ASM should be solid, and AVENGERS ACADEMY is one of Marvel's best comics (and is hands down their best Avengers title). So you take the good with the bad.

[/B]INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #500 $4.99 - (I'm dreading another long storyline that doesn't go anywhere until the last few issues. Iron Man Legacy is SOOO much better.)

It is. Sadly, sales on IRON MAN LEGACY are in the toilet; it is now selling below BLACK WIDOW and HAWKEYE & MOCKINGBIRD when they were canceled/merged, as well as less than YOUNG ALLIES and probably even NOVA. The current story ends with issue #11, and if a 12th issue is solicited, I will be stunned. As it is, I'm not sure if it has been solicited for March. Fred Van Lente needs to get on some higher profile books. His biggest was some issues of ASM during the last "writers round robin" era, but that's been it. The rest of his work falls under "cult hit" and "critical darling" territory - that is, stuff the mainstream doesn't buy, but is very good.

HEY!!!! Look at that!!! Wolverine & Jubilee - a core 616 mini-series - priced at $3! Exciting day!

Anyhow, This is a decent week of comics but not fantastic. It feels wierd that of those above the one I'm most excited about is Amazing Spider-Man. I'm excited to be reading one of my favorite characters again but it still feels too good to be true, like I'm still waiting for another snide Anti-OMD-haters scene to be thrown in.

As for X-Factor I was bored to tears with the Asgard storyline and stopped collecting for a while with intents to drop it, but I love the team too much to drop it so it's still up in the air. I may get this issue or I may get previous issues. Chances are I'll eventually get it though.

I just have trouble getting into that book. I'm two issues behind in my reading so far; and, I think I'm still peeved that David decided to age Layla Miller and take away all of my interest in her. She was the heart and soul of the team; and, the storyline with Valerie Richards over a year ago just made that more apparent. Sure, every now and then a pretty good issue comes along ... but, it's getting pretty rare. (Plus, the team doesn't even feel like much of a team any longer.)

Marvel simply needs to do something with the X-books. They are so separated from the rest of the 616; and, I would love an OMD situation to fix it all.

I just have trouble getting into that book. I'm two issues behind in my reading so far; and, I think I'm still peeved that David decided to age Layla Miller and take away all of my interest in her. I actually liked him aging Layla but hated his reasonings for how she "knows stuff." I can get over that though. For me, it just feels like it kinda lost it's mojo after Mutant Town was de-mutantized. I got bored with it after that until the Baby issue and it kept me hooked until the end of the Summers Rebellion storyline but since then I've been bored. I like the idea of their being involved in the bigger Marvel Universe but for some reason I'm just not really getting into it. THe FF story was boring. The Mordo/Second Coming story was decent. Then the Asgard story started okay but got boring fast. I'm about 3 issues behind now but even with the boringness I just love the characters and the interaction... even if the stories themselves are boring. Now that the Asgard story is over I can try to get into it again and get the last couple issues on back issue on lighter weeks. But if this next plot starts boring me again I may just call it quits.
