The Diamond List for July 4th, 2012...

Yeah.

DC has more $2.99 books to begin with, and they drop their digital prices much faster than Marvel does. For about 80% of their titles, you can buy two DC books digitally for the price of one of Marvels's.

I'm strictly talking about the actual comics with the digital codes. Where as Marvel doesn't increase the price of their books that come with the free code, dc adds a buck and then bags the dang thing.

Yeah, but it's kinda like complaining about DC giving you a wedgie when Marvel is breaking bones. :o

To me, not really. I only buy print copies. So, I'm not being put in a position where Marvel can break my bones. And, I sure as heck am not going to be standing in line to get a wedgie from DC. If I have an actual copy of a comic, why in the heck do I then need to read it online?

Well, then, don't buy the copy with the digital code

It's an option, not the standard, and if you don't care about the digital code anyway seems like it doesn't matter. I get what you're meaning with Marvel not charging for the code, but if you don't care about it to begin with I don't understand what your actual issue is...?

Yeah, the fact he doesn't even read digital invalidates his entire complaint.

If we're looking at it from a print-only perspective, Marvel is still worse because they have like three times as many $3.99 books as DC.

If you look at it from a digital-only perspective, Marvel is worse because their pricing structure is the most expensive of any publisher than releases digitally.

The only way Marvel could ever have the upper hand, is if you look at the very slim quadrant of people who are looking to buy both print and digital - a group of people Phaedrus isn't even apart of.

There is quite a bit of money I save by Marvel not charging that extra buck for their free digital copy. First, as I am a Marvel competionist, I get every variant copy that my comic shop can get me. (Luckily, my shop isn't like other shops, and they only charge me the cover price, minus my 20% discount.) Thus, I'm not having to pay an extra dollar for that variant cover that comes bagged.

Another good decision by Marvel is not bagging those comics. Every time I get a comic that comes in a bag, I have to buy two copies. One is for opening and the other is for collectable reasons.

Finally, I think Marvel is pretty smart by just including the digital copy with their comics for free for one main reason: You might get someone interested in your digital comics, simply because you offered them that free look. DC isn't really being that smart, because the two comic shops around me that put books on the shelf never have the dollar-extra comics, anyway. So, Marvel is getting their product more widely seen than DC.

I'm sorry, but you legitimately seem like you're just complaining to complain.

I get what Phaed's trying to say... and it makes sense to me..

:yay:

For someone who buys oogles of things and double copies and all that it does make sense actually. Then again, as someone who makes the choice to buy so much, he really has no room to complain. He's the one choosing to do it.

Then again, I whine about Marvel and prices every other post so who am I to comment? :p
