These aren't the "pretty boy" Hansons... I mean THE Hanson Brothers... it's basically the guys from NoMeansNo with a hockey influenced Ramones sound... the name "Hanson Brothers" were the three goofy goons from the 1977 movie classic "Slap Shot" (shame on you if you've never seen it)...

If you like the Ramones, then check out the Hanson Brothers' 1992 release... "Gross Misconduct"... it's great...

I made the dropped list to see how much money I've saved this week through my recent cuts. I'm pretty happy with that. If Dial H looks really good in the skim I might buy it but I highly doubt it.

As for Mighty Thor Annual #1, I doubt I'll buy it. I'm trying to save money on comics and spending $5 on a title I don't actually buy doesn't help in that. I'm curious though because of the cosmic nature of the issue (according to solicits and interviews). I'll at least skim it.

And the rest of the week looks decent. Uncanny X-Men and AvsX are the two I'm most interested in. Academy and Defenders are on bought time right now through their current arcs (Defendres maybe a bit further depending on how it all goes). X-Factor is one of my least favorite titles that I buy so no anticipation there really. I'm still debating on dropping that one but I'm just not ready to do it just yet.

If anyone is interested in reading some really screwed up s*** that's a pretty good read, pick up the "Ed the Happy Clown" GN...
I first read it around 1989, and it still holds today... reprinting E'd adventures from Yummy Fur... and 80's B&W iNDy comic from Drawn & Quarterly...

If you have a warped sense of reading, you'll definitely dig this book...

It's definately good but I spend WAY too much a month. Having some health issues come up recently plus other expenses I just had to redirect spending and I get too frustrated with comics to justify what I spend on them, so I had to make a sizeable amount of cuts. Swamp Thing was one of the last cuts I made but after a lot of thought I realized it was one of those books I enjoyed but would be fine without. The more I cut the more I realized how much I COULD cut and be alright with, and with my financial-worrying mentality lately it felt good to be rid of them. Honestly, if I could get down to just $50 a month I'd be happy. I'd be at $65 right now (down from $135) if not for Marvel's stinking double shippings. I'm still looking for more cuts to trim even more. Justice League Dark, Defenders, New Avengers, Avengers Assemble, and X-Factor are in the danger zone. Justice League, Astonishing X-Men, and adjectiveless X-Men are just a step above those.

I tried to convince myself to drop everything but that's not happening... not right now anyway. I think I'll at least always buy X-Men stuff. I don't see that ever changing.

7 comics, but due to the prices of three of them, they'll cost the same as 8. That makes it a slightly above average week for me, but not as heavy as some opening weeks of come months.

JLI is a dead book walking; it's been canceled with issue #12, although it will get an annual so that'll be an unofficial 13th issue. I suppose I will type up something longer when that end comes, but overall I feel that book hasn't been bad, but underwhelming and didn't capitalize on it's cast and potential to offer something that JUSTICE LEAGUE didn't.

Looks like a "meh" week, honestly. AVENGERS ACADEMY is usually good, although this arc has not been it's prime. DEFENDERS can be hit-or-miss. AVX and JLI are usually average at best. ACTION COMICS can be great, but it can also be overly ambitious and pretentious. Thus, it's a week where I am looking at SUPER-DINO and WINTER SOLDIER at the sure bet hits, which is odd.

One of these days I will get back to that. I miss the days when all I read were the X-Men books. Six or seven titles a month and that was it and I was totally oblivious to the rest of the comicbook world or the people behind them because I had no internet.

I liked comics better back then.
